Hey all,

I just joined, so I look forward to this forum online here....

I have a 2004 GTP - and love it, and about a week ago I was driving to work - and "ka-boom" - I didn't know what happened. After driving a bit further - I notice that my sunroof was shattered - luckily it was safety glass, but it was in the size of diamonds!

Has this happened to anyone else here?

Note - I DO NOT follow cars closely - and after I got to work - there wasn't so much as a nick on the glass exterior!

And, my bumper to bumper, nor my extended warranty would cover it - so $460 materials and $100 labor later - I have a new glass sunroof. I know that this was faulty in some way, but no coverage anywhere would cover it....

Any ideas or experiences here?

statefarm offers glass coverage separate. so no deduct is required.

But they cost considerably more than Progressive - I mean my deductable is $500, so after the difference in insurance cost per year - I am still ahead of the game financially.

For $48, I would have ate it and not filed the claim at all to likley have raised rates for the next 3 years. Sorry to hear about the freak incident. Hopefully that is all it was and not a common accurance in GP's.

I just bought a 2004 GTP yesterday but when I put it on insurance (Metropolitan) they asked me is I wanted to add glass coverage. So for $22 a year all my glass is covered now. I think that was a great deal. I also added it on my wifes Volvo so thats one less thing to worry about.

Money well spent - as most full comprehensive coverage doesn't cover glass, you have to have a rider such as this....

I am still in complete confusion as to how/why this could happen to me? Just driving along, and ka-boom! Shattered sunroof, nothing it it, not following anyone, and I was out $550.....
