Got my recall notice in the mail and brought it in to the dealer. They don't even have it on their computer yet, but they said they would do the repair anyway.
I couldn't do it on Saturday because they were too busy, so I have to bring it back in now.

Rather than take the car to the dealer and lose it for a day, I simply checked the right rear brake fitting myself. The FSM says 40 ft-lbs, and according to my torque wrench my bolt was tight. No signs of leakage, no loss of fluid in 5000 miles - guess I'm okay. smile

Yes, got it done yesterday, it only took about half an hour and it was okay anyway.

Not sure if there are legal issues associated with NOT getting the recall done at a dealer. Like if something happended to the brakes and you got in an accident, would insurance still cover you? I agree that you did whatever they would do, just wonder if it matters whether it is on record at the dealership.

I assume that your insurance would still cover it if it caused an accident, but you wouldn't be able to sue GM. Just a guess. I'm not a lawyer.
