Hey all my 04 GP has a decentsounding radio but it seems to fade or loose stations.. being an 04 i would think that it would have a better radio in it?

anyone else have this problem and if so how did you fix it? did you install a ANT booster?

and I live close to the stations, and its not just one station its all of them..

the ST display will disapear and the the station will fade out then come back again

It might be just the radio itself. I once had a car in which an antenna cable got pinched during production and severly decreased reception. My 04 GT2 lets me listen to a local 50000 watt FM station up to 70-75 miles radius away from home. Less powerful stations in my market I can get within a 50-60 mile radius.

I have Sirius satellite through my Dish TV receiver and love it. Seriously (no pun intended) thinking about getting it for my car since I travel a lot on a daily basis.

Sirius is a great invention. It's crazy how technologically advanced we've made this stuff. We take our Sirius stuff with us to Colorado, a good 300+ miles away from home, with no problem. Not to mention all the selection .. Why didn't people come up with this sooner?

x2 on what GT2Owner said. Some production cars get sold with disconnected antennas. You might want to climb into your trunk and check the wiring if you are having really bad reception.

One thing I've noticed is that on my 2004 (as well as on my previous 98 that had the antenna in the rear glass), that FM reception goes to hell the second you turn on the rear defroster. Anybody else experience this?

Of course, with factory XM, who needs FM anymore?
(That is, unless I'm heading South and my sunroof is open, then it blocks the satellite signal to my XM antenna. Grrr.)

So, if my rear window is foggy, and I'm headed south with the sunroof open...there's always that six-disc CD changer.

I've had no problems with FM reception while using the rear window defogger.

Re: an earlier post, I received Sirius for Christmas for my car. While the manual suggested a top mount at the rear, I luckily had the forethought to position it and then open the moonroof. It was way too close for my comfort so I mounted it on the trunk lid. It works great. Later a custom installer told me that he suggests all cars with moonroofs should have their satellite antennas installed on the trunk. With a top mount, even though it is small it adds to the wind noise when mounted on the front.

i haven't had a bit of trouble, in fact i think i've got better reception with my 04 GP then i did with my old 94 ranger and that had teh traditional antenna. and the ranger had incredable reception. i get radio stations in perfectly when others don't, so maybe i just got lucky with mine... smile
