Ipod ready? huh never hear of that one before.

my best guess is that you are referring to the ability to play your ipod stuff through the radio, but that isn't anything special anyone can do that.

but hey i may be missing something here.

well, there are a few different models of an fm transmitter. what they do is plug into the ipod and transmitts the sound through an FM frequency. then you set your radio to the correct frquency (should tell you in the info that comes with teh fm transmitter) and you hear what teh ipod is playing

and thats all there is to it.

fm transmitter arent that great, static and interfere with the music and when you're on a long trip your empty station may be used so you'll have to find a new one. best way to go is get the adapter to hook your ipod to the radio, or buy a BMW cuz they all come with a ipod jack in the glove box.

Has any one installed an interface device for an iPod for a 2004 with the XM receiver? Like this one http://www.crutchfield.com/S-aEZByO6cOEP/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?search=dfgm&i=581DFGM

The reason I am asking is because the instructions ( http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/581/581DFGM.PDF ) say if the vehicle has the XM receiver, you need to splice into the data wire to connect to the interface. And in the 2004's the XM receiver is in the quarter panel section on the driver's side. How is anyone supposed to splice the wire and connect it to that interface device when it is that far away from the radio itself?

I really, really, really want to hook up my iPod, but how can I do it without using an FM modulator? They don't work worth a darn in my opinion. Any help would be VERY much appreciated.
