what do you folks think about the turbo kit that cartuning.ca has to offer? I wonder could the tranny in my 04gt handle that kinda torque!

you know man, GM has not been known for making the best transmissions. I would guess no, but if you turbo it, your proboly looking at some header and picton work. So, it would be pretty pricey to turbo your car.

what the hell is wrong with gm in that department? I love the cars but they cant make a tranny to save their lives! I wish they made an actual 5spd with the 3800! That would be awesome

If they put a 5 or 6 speed in a gtp I would be first in line to get one!

Yea just imagine! It would be sweet. I have a 3100 grand am in which i had to rebuild its tranny. I drove it hard but its seems to be a common problem hammer among gm transmissions. It sucks but i love my grand prix.

truthfully i don't know a lot about turbos and supers, but i believe that they basically put the super on for the gtp and the rest is just options.

so if it can handle the super shouldn't it be able to handle a turbo

I say yes. The engine can handle maybe 6-9 psi safely on gt with that turbo kit. We know the gtp has the supercharger thus can handle the boost, but the gt and gtp engines are quite different aside from the 3800 block. Its the trans im worried about. The kit claims 296 horses and 438 lb-ft of torque! The 4t65e trans is, sadly, known for its undependability. I dont know if the gtp and gt trans' are built the same tho.

The only thing I am sure of is that the GTP's had the 4t65e-hd, which has a slightly bigger differential, diff cover, and passenger axle. But from what I understand they are not much stronger than a non-HD transmission.
