My tranny just went out on my 99 black GT. Put in a few mods and got the "New" SD style hood so I'd hate to see it go.

Is the GTO WELL worth it? I thought the GTO styling was pathetic but its starting to grow on me big time, like a creepy girl in elementary school. Must be the GTO commercials.

Is it waaay better to drive than the CompG?

I would not say wayyy better to drive - but I think it is WAAAAYYYYY mor fun to drive. But it is a preference thing also...RWD V8; makes it more fun to drive.

I cant understand how people who like the 97-03 GP and bought it because they liked the way it looks can say the GTO styling is pathetic Look almost the same to me.

I will admit I "picked on it" but I tell you got take a good look at it... your right max it shares a lot of cues with the 97-03 GP. smile

cheers

The GTO is stubby in comparison to the 97-03 GP's more sleek front end. At first, it feels like you are getting a cheap car for 30k that they put little effort in it, like a Taurus with a v8 in it. I like the GTO's back end though. I know its history as being the car from Australia and I know the chassis is very stiff because of it. Other folks may not like that but I do.

I love the way my 98 GTP looks... But when I say I don't like the looks of the GTO, it's not that I don't like it. I actually do. I just don't want to have two cars that look the same. Granted the interior is much nicer, and the V8 is much nicer, and the RWD is nicer.... Oh no.. frown Maybe I should've gotten a GTO too frown The feeling comes and goes... I was actually going to wait on the 05', but I am REALLY bad at waiting.

I just could not pass up the deal I got on the 04. The 05 is going to be 34K firm I bet. Unless sales dip then they might through in some minor rebates.. but if you look at the real differences between the cars it is only the hood and engine. No as for the hood PFYC has a nice hood for about 1200 installed (east coast) and the engine -- although "There is no replacement for Displacement" the 6.0 is new and parts maybe harder to get and more $$ for a while -- as for the 5.7 there are more parts than cars smile and most you can get pretty cheap. But that is why I did not wait.

When I was shopping the GTO 8 months ago, the local dealer was firm on $44,000 for the 04! eek (Yes, that is in US dollars) If I could've gotten it for 30 to 33 then I would've REALLY thought long and hard about it, before I bought my G35 Coupe. But for 44k, the decision was easy.

I would imagine that Right now yuou can get an 04 for about $25-28,000 bucks with the $3500 rebates Maybe less I dont know. Thats not a bad price IMO and where they should have started all along.

Ive been trying to figure a way to afford one but with resale on my 00 GTP not all that great and having just dumped $2,000 into the suspension and maintenance stuff, and the car running and driving like a dream, AND a baby on the way, and me not having a ton of disposible income, it just doesnt make financial sense right now. and it would be an impossible dream to get my wife to agree. (she is too practical and sensable)

Had they priced the 04 under 30k and not tried to gouge customers, they would have probably sold ALL of them and not had to have had any sitting on the lots. I bet the dealers will tack on $5,000 or more to the 05 sticker. They just dont learn.
