Well, I ran over a screw driver at 40 mph on Sunday and destroyed one rear tire - the tire threw the tool right through the fenderwell liner! Then when I tried to find a replacement - no joy! frown
Tirerack, Discounttire, etc....no one had one even listed! The dealer found one, but said it would take 2-3 weeks to get here - unacceptable! mad
I finally got one ordered from Reno and airshipped it up - I'll pick it up tomorrow. One of the few disadvantages of living here on the Last Frontier.... angel

That is a rare size. I run 225/55-17 Bridgestone Pole Positions S-03s on my 97 and love them during the warm months (only a 3 season tire), but when I saw the new GPs use the same size, it really surprised me. I hope more manufacturers start using this size - so I can mooch off you new guys savewave

Chew,

Do you like the S-03 Pole Positions? I was thinking of getting them for my '04 for the summer. I've heard a couple of problems with them...
1) Terrible tram-lining effect
2) Wear out incredibly fast (10-12k)

Tramming? I assume that means tracking in the road grooves, right? Nope, with the size I'm running haven't had that problem at all. This tire is prolly the stickiest out of all the ones that I've had so far.

Firestone SZ50 previous gens (255/45-17), Dunlop SP 5000 (245/45-17) and now these (225/55-17).

Wear out fast? Nah, I havent had that problem yet. I've had mine about 34K miles now and I still have a ways to go before I reach the wear bars.

I think it really depends on your driving style. While I like to take the hard corners - I don't drop the hammer at every stop light. If you feather the gas (most of the time) on takeoff, the tires will last a while.

Oh and these are some sticky spring, summer , fall tires - even in rain. Only reason I decided to try them was because the reviews were so good at tirerack.com and I'm glad I did savewave
