A freak thunderstorm came thru and dumped golfball size hail on us. It hailed pea and marble for 10 minutes and then golfball for 1 or 2. All the guys I work with are out examining the damage to their cars. One has a month old Mazda 6 and another a 2 month old Turbo GTI. I saw the storm coming and hid my bike under a small over hang we have here at work. My bike got wet, but is dent free.

You lucked out is right.

That's one thing I'm afraid of when I get to Fort Worth. Getting dimples in the GP and with the poor book value having the insurance total it out rather than fix it.

wow, those are huge. I really wouldn't mind getting hit though, $250 deductible and I'd get a new car. wink

You can always buy it back but then you have to get a different title, or if your adjustor works with you, he will write the damage just down to before it is totalled. You may have to fix it yourself or pay some out of your pocket, but the car does not get "totalled".

I guess we got lucky where I work. Just a few miles down had much larger hail. Here are some more pics that people sent to our TV station that they post on their site.

Reminds me of War of the Worlds movie.

that last pic is AMAZING!

I wouldnt mind my car getting totaled either honestly. With the way my loan company and insurance are, The car would get paid off and I would get a check for full book value so I wouldnt be left broke and ride-less.

I rode home in stuff like that for 30 minutes last night. One road is just north of the AF base so there are no trees, light poles etc. I was the highest point for 1.5 miles. It was pretty scary with cloud to cloud and some cloud to ground lightning going on.

The thing is, we see stuff like that all the time here and are used to it. The AF Base is the highest point in Eastern Kansas. We can see storms from my 2 story building for 100 miles on a clear night. Downtown is 6 miles away and I could swear we are higher here than the top of the 12 story Civic Center.

I remember visiting grandparents in Jersey years back, and they saved hail in the freezer to show me, it was baseall size.
Thank goodness my cousin, their nephew, works for Dent Wizard up there.

I find it funny that everyone want something happen to that car like tree falling on that car, hail cause dent, and tornado flip car over that usually make people exciting for new car. I still like my car. Mostly, my favorite is no car payment. My dad own 1986 Chevy Caprice that he brought new. He has it until 1999 that his engine blew up. I know he has lot of saving because he has no car payment for many years.

I have seen hail once in my life. I was kid from Indiana. I was sitting in school bus and saw hail storm from window. It was loud bang. It was on city. Everyone running around to try cover themselve. It is kind like a war going on lol. It was sure messy but nothing serious. It is kind small size as .25 quarter.
