Alright so in the few months that i have had this car it is constantly breaking, now that we have hot weather it is overheating.
I was slowly losing coolant and running hot. Mechanic said "your thermostat is out and it isn't letting your fans run. replace thermostat."
so last night i put in new 180degree thermostat and on the way home guess what?!?!? car is running hot, took longer to get there, but still hot.
I don't know what to do now. Do i look for new fans? Is there someway i can check it? Or should i just put a brick on the gas pedal in the woods and get a mustang?
I am completly out of patience when it comes to the probs i have been having latly so if anybody can help it will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!
Thanks in advance Ryan

Well first, you could try running a 12v line to your fans just to make sure they actually work. I'd *personally* find a useless doo-dad like a phone charger that plugs into your cigarette lighter.
Then, cut the cable and extend it with a pair of wire nuts and some more wire.
Basically, make a very long phone charger cable, without the phone one though.
Find the terminals and wire it up. I've never done it but it should work.
OR, you could just let the car run and watch if the fans go on or not.

If your fans won't turn on, then either the fans have gone bad (not very likely), the relays have died (possible), or the wires to fans are broken somewhere (possible). Does one fan turn on when the A/C is turned on?
And what is hot? The fans may not kick in until your temp gauge is in the 220-230 range.

alright, will check ac the hottest i have ever seen it was today it was two lines above the quarter mark. (so if it were mirrored on the gas gauge i would have two lines above quarter tank.

how can i be sure the ac is on with climate control? i have noticed that having the heat cranked helps keep it down a bit.

That pic on the top is perfectly normal for temp. The temp will flux a tad. If it gets two to three notches above 210 in traffic then I'd say your fans arn't turning on.

Yeah. That's normal. Sitting in traffic + hot humid weather = engine heat trapped under hood which results in the temp rising.
When you're moving, there's air going under there and cooling things down. You're fine.

Dude thats no problem, the temp gauge has that red section at the top to let you know anything in that range is bad. Anything under that you should be completely fine.

That's where mine ran with the stock thermo. Now with the 180 drilled, I have it just below that first tick of 100-230.

For awhile, I thought you were about to melt some bearings down. My 00 GT runs NORMALLY about 210-230.
