Oh, that's normal? Hmm. Sounds like you are having the same "problem" I am. My car seemed to always run under the bottom quarter mark, until I put it in the ditch. Since then, if I let it sit there, like if I get stuck at a light or something, it quickly rises to about that level. I crank the heat on to full (which SUCKS living in Texas) and then when I start moving it drops back down.

I've never let it sit there and run up to 210+ to see if the fans turn on because I don't want to find out they don't turn on. lol

Well, it's nice to know that's normal, even if my car didn't used to get that hot.

(Although now that I got my coolant leak fixed, it doesn't get hot as fast)

~this is the sadest thing i've ever read...kill your GP and buy a MUSTANG!?!?! i might puke... no

You know, I wanted a Mustang before I bought my Grand Prix.

I'm a hardcore Mustang fan, always have been and always will be. A Mustang GT IS my dream car, not some Corvette or Viper or anything like that.

But I wouldn't trade my GTP for anything. laugh lol I've SO fallen in love with it too! hehe

Nothing wrong with 'Stangs. I like all cars, even the ugly ones.

Yep.. especially the cars that everyone has. You know how many old men and women you see driving a Stang GT around because they've always wanted one but couldn't afford it until now? Also, a GTP in stock trim can hang with stang GT's. Never again. lol

Yea, I hate seeing some old geezer driving a V8 like that, doing 30 in a 45. Too bad they wouldn't race for pinks. laugh

lol, the only reason i have a gtp is because i needed somthing to scratch my "i wanna go fast" itch. I was looking at mustangs and a few other cars, old muscle but they all had one thing in common:

Big heavy engine + rear wheel drive.

And when you live in wisconsin especially green bay you can't drive a car like that in the winter.

they don't call it the frozen tundra for nothing.

I was wondering though the parking lot of a gm dealership and i noticed the odd badge on the side of the car. Supercharged?!?

Took it up on the highway and let it throw me back in my seat a few times. Brought it back out of gas, with a little less rubber and a huge crap eating smile on my face. I was signing papers the next day.

Is that true that a stock GTP can hang with a Mustang GT?

When your car is running, do you smell coolant?

My 2002 SE needed a gasket and new tourque bolts on the intake gasket. I was able to take all the bolts off by hand.

Car was running hot in the summer and really cold in the winter.

SE has the 3100 engine, completely different from the 3800 in the GTP. The 3100s are notorious for lower intake gasket leaks (been there, done that), even though the 3800 is prone to it sometimes as well.

Depends on the year and engine size, and driver. I destroyed a '94 GT w/ 4.6L engine. I raced an '04 GT w/ 5.0L and he beat me by a fender. Raced a newer '06 GT (probably 5.0) and he beat me by two lengths. And I only ran a 14.51 in the quarter, which is pretty much what a stock GTP runs.

Hey Stauffie I already took care of a Camaro and a Mustang on the streets of University Mn. And the look on those guys faces was funny as hell. If only I could have taken pictures of their faces.

lol
