Dude in my local club has a 11 second sierra soon to be 10.
2001 Sierra w/ an LS1, 4L80-E tranny swap, and a 150-shot (among other things.) Best I've gotten out of it so far is 11.57 @ 119 in the 1/4, and 7.37 @ 97 in the 1/8th. It's currently waiting for a 408 cid stroker w/ some L92 heads to be put between the fenders.

I know I've probably been one of those who has had some less than endearing things to say about trucks. Not that I really have so much against them since I have owned a few in my time.(my Lil Red Express comes to mind)

I have seen some trucks at the strip that would flat kick butt and take names but just like some other around me have said "can you imagine how much faster if all that power were in a smaller lighter body with less wind drag?"

I guess my major beef has been with Dodge slapping the names of old musclecars on pickup trucks...with high centers of gravity and heavy weight to drag on the street they are pretty much thirsty paper tigers. The "Rumble Bee" I can almost take but the "Daytona" with the huge plastic wing was way too far out in left field.

Dont get me wrong, I think trucks can have a sporty flavor, look good and sound good, but they will never handle like a car, be lightweight or anywhere near fuel efficent. They are ideal for their purpose but they arent musclecars. I'm sure there are custom built one-offs that cross over those lines but not the factory models.

But as with all things automotive, whatever turns your crank is what you do...I dont care for Donks or ricer machines either but that doesnt mean they cant do their thing. I'm sure there are those who diss my PT convertible but it matters not to me cuz the car is a hoot to drive.

Let the wheels roll no matter what you drive hammer

I've seen a show on the Speed channel with the diesel truck drag races. Big trucks, completely street legal, with the big steel bumpers, running 10's in the quarter mile. *shakes head in awe*

Well since my DD is a truck I might as well put my .02cents in,I like my Titan it's the first Jap truck I've owned and I'm impressed I currently have 125000 miles on my 04 and it has'nt missed a beat ,the only addons I have is shorty headers,a K&N CAI,magniflow catback Iget 18mpg highway and it has plenty of power ,the 5spd auto works flawlessly and will pull a decent load, but as T-Bat said it's a truck an it handles like a truck.Chico(pops)

I'd take a Syclone over that TT Silverado anyday.

I'd prefer Stacy David's Copperhead over this as well. 1967 Chevy w/ 572 motor. W/ Nitrous its expected at 1000 hp but I don't think he hooked the nitrous to it.

yes, but chico is a responsible full time working man who can afford a truck that gets 18mpg aka alot less around town maybe 10mpg ish chico?.......and as for this post like someone else said you strap a turbo on anything and its fast as balls no one has ever doughted that.....people have just doughted getting a basic truck with gas prices the way they are now and how practical it is for a younger adult....the type that you would be able to afford 00grandprixgt that might look good, but wouldn't be any were near as fast as the truck you posted anyday

I'm a fan of work that goes into any vehicle.

Personally I'd take a "strong" truck over a fast one anyday.

For me practicality first then performance. That's why trucks like the Syclone/Typhoon would be collector fodder and not a regular vehicle for me.

What really chapped my hide with OEM "fast" trucks is look at the tow rating on some of them. The Dodge with the Viper motor had/has a tow rating of 0 while Chevy's SS was up around 7k.

I agree with Herc a truck has to work for me ,I do a few minor mods just for efficiency and I like a decent exhaust note, and 18mpg hwy and 12mpg city is ok for a working truck but for a student on a modest income it's not really practical,I see a lot of big fancy trucks in Texas, dually's and such that are used as DD's by people that really do'nt need a truck .
