You could consider my Honda to be rice, but that insinuates that it's slow. 370lbs with 130 horsepower isn't too slow. Just think, I could have bought a Harley that weighs 500+lbs with 75 horsepower (and leaks oil). Or a single cylinder Buell. I'll pass.

keep on justifying rice. rice doesnt HAFTA be slow. Its still rice. Take a Spoon mill and throw it in a Stang or Vette or something, and that makes the American car rice.
Either way, you still rice. Ricer. You're ricer-ific.
Nothin but love, Bryant.

I think most sport bike riders are a little crazy. If you can be responsible, they're only as dangerous as you ride them.
In reality, motorcycles are only as dangerous as the stupid drivers on the roads.

When I rode a crotch rocket, I was proud when Harley riders called it a "Rice Burner". I would always reply back "Yeah, and it burns the sh!t out of that rice too. What does yours do... burn oil, or leak it?".

I have a colleague with a 2004 Harley Sportster. It's already leaking oil.

To help out out on gas? If you pay a month for the bike and some liability insurance than that may be more than just putting in gas in your ride, no? Same thing with Hybrids. In the very long run you'll win verse gas prices, but to drop a monthly payment or drop down payment for a hybrid vehicle to beat gas, isn't worth it until gas is like over $5 gal, I think.

There was an article about a year ago that compared a Honda Civic to a Toyota Prius. If you drive the average 12k miles per year, it would take almost 12 years to justify the additional cost of the Prius.
The motorcycle though, if you get a cheap Honda, or something else that will run forever, you can make out like a bandit. My old CBR600F2 has 25k miles, been totaled, and never broken down in the 7 years its been in my family. The insurance (w/ collision) is $300 a year. It gets 45 mpg.

Don't you have to change the batteries in the Prius something like every 5 years, at a cost of around $30k?

Austin, something like that. But Toyota picks up the tab on the first battery change, after that it's yours.

30k??? That is absolutely unreasonable. I'll just stick to my 18-20 mpg XP'd/SC'd Daily Driver.

The Prius battery is around $3-5k. It should last close to 160k miles. There are reports of them lasting between 100k and 200k miles on average.
The Escape Hybrid has a battery costing $7200!
