Guys well I have not found a Monte yet, what I have found is a 88 Caprice Classic 140,000 miles on it. It has the V6 4.3 in it. I have no ideas of the history on this car. What I can say is my next door neighbors car, pristine condition like 0 nothing on it. Perfect 10 car in condition. its 1500 bucks. Now I dont wanna sound dumb cuase i have a lot of bills to pay off. But is there anything you can do with these cars? Yak now beef them up to run 400 horses or should I look for somthing else to play with in the future. I am sure I can just drop the 5.0 or 5.7 in someday right? Either way the 4.3 also is a relatively large engine right? wink

The 4.3 is the little brother of the 5.7. Basically same motor minus two cylinders. Most internals will swap over. It has some gofast goodies but not like the 5.7L. If you plan on a motor swap the 5.7 will fit but you'll need extra parts. If you wanna play and mod I'd suggest looking farther for a V8 model. It'll be much easier to swap a 305 for a 350 then the 4.3 for either of the other 2. And if you were to buy it and drop in a V8 I'd skip the 305 and go straight for the 350. Engine will cost you roughly the same and you'll have much more potential out of the 350. 305s can make some good power but the same amount of work into the 350 gets you much farther.

Well ive got to pay off my mom about 2 Gs Herc but what do you mean by extra parts. Believe me this car is about as good as show quality too. It is owned by old couple type and was garage kept for 20 years I guess since it was bought. So what kind of parts are we talkin? Im also not too into throttle body fuel injection, I have no idea what it takes to convert this over to carberation but if it was simple i would prolly want to do it. I may just end up looking for somthing else.

The parts I was talking about are the items the V8s have that the V6s don't such as motor mounts and various other sundry items. Not sure on the engine controls and tranny controls but you might need new throttle linkage, TV cable, exhaust, bigger radiator etc etc. I just wanted you to know there is more to a motor swap from a 6 to an 8 then from an L36 to L67. Those extra stuff that you'd need just might be the budget breaker. But if you want a DD and not do an engine swap then the car is a good grab.

Yeah you really know your stuff Herc. That is why I like staying in touch with this site even though I am no longer an owner of a Grand Prix. Me and my friend are going up state to see if we can track any Montes, Older Grand Prix, Malibus, or other cars from 70s or 80s in restorable condition for the 1500 dollar price range. I know there are some out there, just gota hunt them down is all. Thanks for the help as always man. smile
