I am saving up for a 2008-9 Camaro SS Convertible.

Sounds like a good practical plan to me.
1) Sell a 2 year old GTO for $$$.
2) Save money + get Malibu in the meantime.
3) Used money saved from sell of GTO, insurance, and gas to get Camaro 3 years later.
The alternative?
1) Keep the GTO.
2) Sell a modded, raced 5 year old GTO racing miles on it for less money in 2008-9.
3) Pay a huge monthly car note for the Camaro. No money to spend on mods on it.
