The link above is explaining when you buy a new chrysler car, that you get 3 years worth of free gas but no more than 12,000 miles a year(should of known there was a catch somewhere but still a good deal). But they only have regular, E85 and diesel fuel. So the SRT models are out of this deal(figure that much).

It not free. They cap gas at $2.99/gal and anything over that, per gal, they pay. Also, the 12,000 miles a year will not be based on mileage but typical gas mileage for your vehicle. So, if you use up too much gas having fun or driving city, you get screwed on the deal.

Too many restrictions and unknowns: sounds like a good way to piss off customers.

If I heard correctly (on the news), Chrysler is offering $2.99/gallon gas for 3 years. I think they will send you a "credit card" to be used to buy gas. The amount charged gets sent to a credit card of your choosing. Also, you only get that price for the equivalent of 12000 miles (i.e. 21MPG on the Highway for a new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited ≈ 571 Gallons ≈ 22 full tanks of gas). After that, you will pay full price.

Wonder how much they make off the deal instead of giving $X,000 rebates.

The article on CNN said using today's national average of $3.61 per gallon, this would save the buyer about $355 per year.

Granted, prices will probably go up over the next 3 years, but still that is only a couple thousand dollars...not much different than a normal rebate.

But I think it's a good sales pitch since so many people are worried about gas prices.

But I'm comparing that $355 per year in fuel to say a $3,000 rebate for buying a new car. Wonder what type of fees are hidden in there for having to use a CC and such.

But ya it's a great marketing ploy. But is it worth it in the long run?
