I bought the XBOX 360 Premium on Friday, got a 10% discount and a free $50 gift card.... which got spent back on Oblivion GOTY. I blame you guys for this and my subsequent absence from the forum. That game is fabulous and it's wasting all my time. Next in line is Assassin's Creed.

I was pretty good at gaming games. I just lost interest when I was like 15. I wish I hadn't, looks like you'll have sooo much fun! I'll just stick to modding the GP.

Wal Mart had a kickass deal today but they are sold out. It was the Elite one with TWO wireless controllers and THREE games plus a carrying case for $400. I paid $350 for the mid-level one with ONE wireless controller and only two games. Darn it, I wish I had seen this deal before they sold out.

Hey Rook, if you think Oblivion is good on the 360, you should see it on a PC! If you've got one that can run it max'd at a solid 30 fps, it is SO much better looking.
Add in x6 anti-aliasing + HDR lighting, at 1600x1200 resolution, it's AMAZING!
Plus, there are so many mods out there that change just little things. Like one changes how arrows fly and do damage. Iron arrows are normal but arrows like elven ones, they have far less drop-off and fly faster, really makes you want to use upgraded arrows. Plus, you need some talent to adjust between different arrow types.

I'll buy it for PC eventually (when it hits the $30 mark probably), when I build one. I did have a rig planned with my money... it had a Radeon HD2600XT for the GPU. I'm sure it could have run it fine... main thing I hate about the console is no mods and no mouse and keyboard.

It's probably because I've been console gaming for years, but I'm a lot better on console than I am on my PC.

I went out and bought NFS: Prostreet today. I normally rent games before I buy them, but good ol' Blockbuster only got 3 copies, and there isn't a single location in the area who has it in stock.
The game's ok, but it's not nearly as good as Underground 2 or Most Wanted. It's got some cool features, like having to stage your tires before a drag race (i.e. smoke 'em to heat them up), but they could have just added it to the old types of games.
The cars handle like bricks (my GP handles so much better), and it absolutely infuriates me that my 200hp Nissan 240SX can completely stomp all over 450+ hp old school muscle car in a race.
They've also made drag racing difficult. It's dang near impossible at times to watch both the tree and your tach, to know where the perfect shift point is, as well as watching where you're going and watch the tach.
Frankly, I'm glad I only spend $30 on it, but I'm not sure it's worth even that much.

I was afraid of that... Oh well, Assassin's Creed still had my undivided game attention at the moment.

Taken from one of the reviews on GameFAQs Focus on best lines rather than speed (just an opinion here, but the game is called Need for SPEED, not Need to Slow Down to 40mph to Hit the Apex of this Turn) To make it worse, in many ways, this game is now the Hot Pursuit games all over again...except it has no police chases to make it remotely fun. And the graphics for the PS2 version SUCK! Seriously, I feel like I'm playing the original Playstation when I'm driving at speed. Oh, and the 200hp SX I mentioned? It was actually 140hp...and it was beating 450hp Chargers, Mustangs, GTOs, etc by 1 min+
