Every year my Mom and I make the jaunt to Richmond to check out the cool custom rides. I'm glad she likes getting out and oogling the cars and bikes. I think its very cool that a 75yr old Mom and her son can bond over hot rods.

yeah its pretty cool I think...I've got pics of her at almost every show I've been to in the last few years. The Rods & Customs Show has become "our thing" every Feb, something we both look forward to.

...And yes, the pic next to the bio/intro I wrote is yours truly. That pic was shot by my wife at Sunset Beach along the Pacific Coast Hiway last summer during our San Diego Trip. Its one of her fave shots of me and one of the few I dont seem to mind either.

I'll be adding more galleries to that site from past shows and vacations for anyone who wants to check back. Maybe even an "Evolution of the ThunderBat" slideshow.

The rat-rod bug is pretty cool.

I really got a kick out of the vise-grip door handle on the rat-rod bug (where was he going with that huge shifter tho?)

cool pics... all those cars seemed pristine... we had one here and one car had a messed up front bumper that looked like it have just been in an accident, other people had swirl marks out the waazoo and were poorly done, but then there were show car quality vehicles there too

and what was up with that 09 charger with the flames under the hood but then the blue intake? maybe it signified water???

and like the second or third car is flat black... until this year i never liked that look but now... i think flat black is sexy!

Some of the so called "rat rods" I've seen lately have been anything but ratty. The pinstriping really adds lot of flash and I even saw another one outside (sorry, had already put the camera away) that had evidently waxed the flat black to the point of it being a semi-gloss...a very unusual but eye catching look to be sure.

There is another local hot rod show that happens every August to benefit MDA out on the Richard Bland College campus, amidst the trees of the pecan groves. A very cool summertime,outdoor setting, I havent been in quite few years but I understand its growing like wild. I'm gonna have to check that one out this year. The host car club,the Southern Knights Cruisers, holds a drive in show every Saturday night at Hardee's parking lot over the three summer months. I've stopped in there many times and some very sweet and tough iron has been on display. If that any indication of the August show it should be a killer.

yeah... nothing like taking a day and just walking around gawking at cars, knowing these people appreciate the same things you do... except usually they have more resources lol
