Well today I ran into somebody at a food store in the parking lot with the same car as me but his was a GT. He was complimenting on my car on how clean it looks with the clear corners. He has the F1 hood painted but he said it was a carbon fiber and he painted over the CF hood. So I ask him why would you paint that and he said because it looks better than a regular fiberglass hood and I seen no difference between the two.
My thing is why paint a CF hood. Whats the advantages of it because I thought you couldn't paint over a CF hood.
Anybody?

mainly for looks, some people dont like the look of CF, but they like the "performance" of it because its so lightweight, did you happen to handle the hood? as in lift it? my brother has a cf hood on his eclipse and man is that thing light.

Oh.. okay, I get it now. I wasn't thinking about the weight reduction things and boosten, I did not get to open or close the guys hood because I was in a rush to get home so I could go to work but he wants to meet up sometime because he has 2 other friends with a 92 and 96 gp and I have a friend with a 02 gp 40th ann, so maybe I can get him to join this club.

I like painted CF, because I like all the body panels to match. a CF hood or spoiler just looks like they got parts out of the junkyard to me.
It's also why I don't like black wheels for the most part. It reminds me of crappy cars that have lost their hubcaps and just have the black wheels exposed.
How,ever CF and black wheels do look good on black cars.

black car with black rims and CF hood painted black, but with 2 stripes left unpainted leaving the CF showing would be amazing!

IMO saving 30 pounds on the front end of our cars for the cost of $700 is pretty steep, and that is without paint, if you go that way. I can think of better ways to spend $700 that will give you better performance.
One reason to paint CF is so every moron won't be playing touchy feely with your CF.
