I was talking to my buddy, who meets many customers as he is an credit employee at Home Depot, (I use to work there). Anyways, he was talking to this retired engineer who has some mercury car with 325k miles on it getting 41mpgs and it runs strong still. He says he adds Lucas oil additive and he puts in 2oz. of acetone to every 10gals of fuel he puts in. He gets the acetone at the $1 store. I did a quick search and came up with this info. http://pesn.com/2005/03/17/6900069_Acetone/

As with anything like this, it works... but don't overdo it.

I was thinking only 2oz. wouldn't make it in the tank. It would evaporate or just not make it. So I don't know. Waiting to let my buddy try it on his car first. I still need brakes for my car to even take for a drive.

I just did 20-30 minutes of reading blogs, studies, and a mythbusters episode about acetone. It seems to me that it may help at first as it cleans injectors, valves, pistons, sensors etc, but eventually if you stop using it, your MPG will probably stay the same as if you were using it, but after an increase. I just bought a used GP with many miles and a full warranty. My car gets BAD MPG and I have tried everything. I got 24 on last highway trip with no A/C, 35 PSI in tires, perfect alignment, minimal weight and driving 70(the posted limit). My wifes W-body get 28-30 in these same conditions. I am going to give it a try. I'll keep you posted.

Well, the main reason I would keep using it is the octane boost.

I own a GT, and gas is pretty good here so I don't need any more than 87. Call me cheap, but I refuse to buy a car than requires premium fuel. I even built my chevelle's motor with 9.5 to 1 compression so it run's on 87 just fine.

My GP requires it and my Stratus can use it from the factory thanks to two different timing maps built into the ECU.
