Yup, that seems about it. If you can fabricate and have an F-body donor car, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to duplicate. It's just that most people can't/don't and it would cost a fortune to have someone fabricate for you. These are also guesses on how the person actually designed the RWD system, but the process would be similar no matter how you went about it.

There is no future GP to my knowledge, it's been dubbed the G8, just as the GA replacement is the G6.

I believe the G8 will be RWD, possibly absorbing some of the GTO buyers when the GTO is tossed aside for awhile.

I think the GXP GP should have been RWD. What were they thinking. It is almost un-American to not have a RWD, high HP car.

The first FWD was by an American company wasn't it? Oldsmobile perhaps?
I have yet to see a GXP in my area, but I've seen three Impala SS with the 5.3.

Weren't caddies the first with fuel injection as well? I know they adopted it really early, in the '70s some time.

Old school...In 1966, Olds introduced the FWD Toronado, the '66 Riviera was RWD(I have one.. ) and in '67, Cadillac introduced the FWD Eldorado. In 1979-85, all three were FWD. The 1976 Cadillac Seville had an Olds 350 with electronic fuel injection (They had two sensors on the intake manifold, and a choke heater that always went bad; a.k.a. the $300 tune up). The 1977 Fleetwood Brougham had a 425 with fuel injection, and four wheel disc brakes. At least, those are the earliest ones I remember working on. School's out, and my apologies for the off-topic post.

How weird. I was just thinking the other day how hard would it be to convert my GP to rear wheel drive....

I read recently that Pontiac is going to go back to their roots and stop production of all FWD cars and be a only RWD company. Kinda harsh, but AWESOME!

It was mentioned in the October issue of High Performance Pontiac, in the Tribal News section: Table of Contents Note the black bar, top of the cover page.
