I've got the Magellan Maestro 3100. So far I love it.

I have the Magellan Roadmate 2000 and have not had any complaints. I esp like the internal battery and the strong suction cup mount. It mounts to my motorcycle and holds up to the vibration nicely.

I'm Pretty sure I have this one as well, and I like it too!

I also didn't want to spend that much on a GPS.

I have two of the top of the line Garmin GPS units, StreetPilot C550. And I bought the GF the Magellan Maestro 4040. The Garmin is a little bulky, unless you go with a on the go style one, instead of the road one. Not sure if the capabilities are different. I also seen my buddies Garmin Nuvi 660, which is similar to the Maestro 4040. They all have there glitches and need updates on mapping. But the only price differences really are bluetooth compatibility and music harddrive options. Just find one in your price range and one with the options you want and one with the most points of interest for the money you plan to spend. Most of them will have issues in certain areas due to new contruction, and it'll piss you off.

Most even have the ability to be "updated" via connection to your computer.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 360. I'm happy with it. I put in an address and it tells me where to go.

I hear Tom Tom has some better online features where you can download different voices and destination points. I had a friend that downloaded a Dunkin Donuts Add-On that plotted all their stores and they'd show up on the map as you're driving.

For a good read about ole Ferdinand read

Over the Edge of the World.

It's a true account of that voyage from the very begining when he tried to get funding from Spain to his death in the Phillipines to the ship making all the way back to Portugal.
