I went to Firestone to get a wheel alignment, because I got the lifetime wheel alignment and I was told that I need new Camber bolts all around. They told me that for $45 a bolt they would replace them. confused I found out what camber bolts are, and seems like I can change them myself.

but if I change them do I have to get a wheel alignment right after that?

I also noticed that the bolt head has a dot that will determine the angle of the wheel depending on which direction the dot is pointing. I can probably take a mental picture and re-install the new bolts the same way. and then get a wheel alignment. Its a free wheel alignment anyways.

You could change them yourself but then would they still honor the lifetime alignment since someone else (you) worked on the suspension?

For $45 I'd have them do it.

I could change the camber bolts myself, how could they ever find out if I changed them?

Also, lets say I can get away with changing the bolts myself, are they easy to take off, or do they require a great force by using a pneumatic tool?

I didn't think the camber was adjustable on our cars????
I know there are aftermarket bolts that you can buy if you lower the car, but that's because the camber isn't adjustable........ Am I wrong?

Question.... Did they tell you why the bolts needed replacing??? If the nuts need to be cut off I could see that, but otherwise, the bolts don't "wear out".

The reason for the replacement of these camber bolts is because Firestone told me that they are wearing out and it is harder to do the allignement, "they don't Allign as well". Are they lying to me?

x2 everything Crimpton said

If your car is lowered, then use this kit its only $45 for all 4 bolts.

I think if you do it yourself, it will avoid your warranty with the alignment, but I never heard of a camber bolt on our cars, I guess I learn something new everyday.
