I don't know how many of us have been following 360 games lately but next month, Gearbox is releasing Borderlands.
It's a Halo/CoD FPS with and RPG twist. To top it off, Borderlands is a loot-based dungeon crawler like Diablo, Baulder's Gate, etc. And it's set in a large, free-roam post-appocolyptic world. Customizable vehicles included!
That's just what *type* of game it is. I didn't mention the tetherless 4-player online co-op did I?
How about Gearbox's random weapon generator that at this very moment, is capable of generating of 17 MILLION weapon combinations? Shotguns that shoot micro rockets? Sniper rifles that shoot healing rounds? Machine guns that shoot electrified razor blades?
I know I shouldn't get this excited about a game because everytime I do, I end up really disappointed. But after watching all the gameplay, "Making of", and trailer videos, I haven't found anything to shake my faith in this games excellence.
I'm so geeking out for this game!

It's going to be scary how much time I spend on my 360 this winter.... Forza, COD, Halo, and this actually sounds pretty BA... I'm not really huge into RPG stuff, though.

That sounds sick. I finally got my 360 back from being modded so this winter is gonna be the winter of the geek!
Gonna have to try this out.

Ok. Now that this game has been out for like 10 days and I already have like 80+ hours in it, here's my little review.
If you enjoy FPS games and enjoy playing with friends, BUY THIS GAME!
I am not kidding at all, this game is the greatest game I could have ever imagined. The *only* downside to this game is that it was *exactly* what they told us it was going to be.
I've sunk more time into this game in a week and a half than I have in 2 months plaing WoW. It's that awesome.

me and my wife just watched the trailers of the game this evening. The trailers made it look like an Eastwood or Tarentino film. She was unsure of the whole thing, but told her of this thread. I think this game MAY be in my future!

Borderlands has a fantastic sense of humor and an atmosphere where nothing ever feels out of place or inconsistent.
It's turely an amazing game and certainly the best new IP of last year. I can't wait for some new equipment dlc to show up. Dr. Zed was fantastic but the Moxxie dlc is going to be a long grind with no real goal in sight.

Wait til you get to Zombies on Playthrough 2.5.
The Moxxie DLC is kind of like the Circle of Death quests in the Arid Badlands and Rust Commons. However, there are a LOT more rounds.
There's 3 arenas. The only quest you get from the DLC is to beat the small tournament in each area. It's 5 rounds consisting of 5 waves in the order of Starter Wave, Gun Wave, Horde Wave, Badass Wave, and Boss Wave.
And then as you move up in the rounds, it pulls an ODST Firefight and adds rules like Shotguns have extra damage or low gravity.
After you finish the small tournaments, you unlock the large ones. You have to complete 20 rounds in each arena instead of 5 rounds. I've heard it can take like 6 hours to do just one of the large ones. And you can't save your progress or anything. It all has to be done in a sitting, lest you leave the xbox on while you are away.

I'm just about done with the new DLC missions already. It's quite easily the best DLC for Borderlands and in my opinion, any game I've ever owned.
I've found some pretty wicked equipment so far too.
Pestilent Defiler 1036 dmg/96.4 acc/1.9 FR 2 shots 3.7x zoom x4 corrosive
Liquid Sniper 885 dmg/91.8 acc/3.4 FR 5 shots 2.4x zoom +180% critical
Combustion Hellfire 184 dmg/80.8 acc/12.5 FR 28 rounds X4 Incendiary
This last one here is my baby. I found a shotty like this shortly after starting the DLC and it just laid the Lance guys to waste. Then I found this one with literally 3 times the accuracy and scope range of the last one. It's vicious!
Vitriolic Crux (clip-fed auto shotty) 124x7 dmg/77.1 acc/1.9FR 5 shots 4.5x zoom x4 corrosive
