Well I was driveing home from my girlfriends house and there was a guy riding up my ass so I give it gas and take off. At the next light he pulls up next to me and give me a look my girlfriend says to me, please walk this A$$ so when the light turns green I put it to the floor and take off next thing I know he flies up right past me like I was standing still and I had the car at WOT. As he blew by me I see its a 06 Mercedes Benzs C62 AMG, I later find out its a V6 supercharged. I felt like shit after that so I'm think of ordering the SS interkooler and a 3.25" pulley and see what happens then....

I wouldnt take it quite so hard...any AMG Mercedes has had some serious work done and its most likely a multi-valve engine, which will make it scream on top end...probably sportin a 6speed tranny as well. A Ruf Porsche is a turbo V6 but I wouldnt feel bad about gettin spanked by one of those...In fact I would feel proud that I held my own (even briefly) against one of those Autobahn burners.

Get those 1.9 rockers in and drop to a 3.5 pulley and you'd stand a chance it would really open up your top end .Chico(Pops)

don't waste your time with an SS intercooler. shop around for a used s2 core and you can get one for the same price (or less) than the SS core. with 1.9 rockers and a s2 intercooler... you'd need to switch to the standard pulleys to run a 3.0" cool

I’d say forget it for the following reasons:
1) That guy pays 4x more insurance than you. Given, he can probably afford it.
2) You have a cool girlfriend and he does not.
3) He has some stuff going on in his like where he needs to act like that.

Personally, 3.5 seems too aggressive given your mods + SSIC + rockers. A cam instead of rockers + 3” DP perhaps. I’d just get a 3.8 and enjoy the extra power and reliability. Chico has more experience on this but it still seems too aggressive.

Do you have a link Ray, I can't find a C62. I searched and searched. I want to see this thing.

ah, I didn't know the SS intercooler was the only one that fits. D, you should probably think about ditching your powerlog and 2.5 downpipe soon and getting headers if you want to go much further with your car. With the amount of air you'll be flowing once you get the rockers in, I would think your exhaust setup might be somewhat of a restriction

I emailed zzp sp see what would need to run ether a 3.8 or 3.6 pulley and I;m waiting for them to get back to me. do you guys have any sugjestions as to pulley size. do you think if i put rockers on i could drop down to a 3.6?

Edit: I asked my girlfriend and she sia dit was the C32 AMG with the V6 Kompressor engine hre is the link for it.

I seen that body style at the track, pops took his daughter down it, ran like 16s, must not been supercharged. But, if I was in your position, I would of expected a W also. They don't look mean, but I guess some of them will blow your doors off.

I think with rockers and a 3" d/p you should be clear to run the 3.6" pulley

Where's your timing now?
If you've got 0*KR, install a smaller pulley. If you've got excessive KR, put the larger pulley back on until you can support the smaller pulley.
MP's are great aren't they?

PS, Let the PCM get aquainted with the new pulley before smashing the throttle.

Only scanning will tell you when its time to drop pulley sizes. 3.6" is a size most people seem to skip, I would imagine rockers and any exhaust work would let you do it, but still scanning is what will tell you if you can safely do it.

Well just got off the phoen with zoomer and he said that to run a 3.8 pully on the SS kit you need the mods in my sig plus a set of rockers to be safe. he siad you can run the 3.8 without rockers but he cannot say that I won;t get a shit load of KR b/c i may get some. I also asked him about a 3.6 pulley and he said that most of the cars that have the 3.6 pulley on have installed a SS IC or a cam b/c they were get very large amounts of KR with out ether.

So I figured I'm going to put the 1.9 moded rockers on. And the 3.8 pulley and tune the car out with that set up. Then later on downt he road I will see if I install the 3.6 if I can get the Kr to stay down. I'm hoping with the 3.8 pulley and the modded rockers I will getr close to 300WHP they once it gets alittle cooler out its track time.

ON a side note I need yoru guys and girls adive with the 1.9 moded rockers do I have to do springs and retaners. I asked zoomer but he have me a "aaaaaa as far as I know no" So can anyone help?

I thought for anything higher than 1.84 you had to change the springs? This is because I have heard you will get valve float if you don't change them.

I know the springs should be changed. Depends on how aggressive, but you can go with the 90#, but if your planning on more down the road, mise well do the 105# I think. I kinda lost track of the knowlege I learned a few months ago on rockers.

So i have a ? should I get the 1.9 rockers and the 105# springs or should I just get the 1.8 modded rockers. I was thinking the 1.9 with the springs b/c the performance gaiun will be more and it will cost just and mcuh as the 1.8 modded rockers.

I would say 1.9s. I thought about others but if you are going in to doing the work, mise well go with the best setup you can if its around the same $dollar$. And in the end hopefully that extra step up will be better than "damn I should of got 1.9s!"

Here is my take on rockers I would go for RR's and I think you will actually be fine with 1.9's with shift points at 6k ,if you decide you want to change springs go for the 1.95 RR's ,many have used the modified stockers with stock springs with no valve float but I think you do have a certain amount of deflection with the MS's ,there seem to be a lot of confusion over rockers and every case is different, personnaly I have installed two sets of 1.9's on stock springs with 6k shift points with 0 valve float .Chico(pops)

Well I decided to not do the rockers. I was talking to my dad about the mods I can do to my car and he said not to do the rockers just yet b/c if next summer I'm going to do and intercooler its going to be alot easyer to do the rockers when the top of the engine is off again. Also my father was thinking about helping me do a Cam. Since the tranny will have to be fixed sometime in the near future ( I hope it doesn;t tho) he was saying we should wait and when it has to be done to tkae the einge out and do cam and qa few litle things. So thanks for your guys help on the rockers. I will keep you updated ont he mod processes.

If you plan on doing a cam in the future save yourself and don't put in the 1.9 rockers. I know there are ER rockers available that will work with a more aggresive cam but the 1.9s will cause serious internal issues when used with an aggresive aftermarket cam.

He already has a cam installed so you can't go much higher than that. I have heard of many people running 1.7's along with the XP cam to beef it up some

D take a look at Gteisele's sig. he has a comp801 cam so yes 1.7 rockers would benefit him they would give him close to the lift of a VS cam,and another FYI you can not use #90 springs on 96-97 heads so you would need to use #105's,back to springs I just installed a set of Harland Sharp 1.9's on my daughters bonny with 90k on the clock ,I picked up a set used for $200 shipped there was no sign of wear on these rockers we stayed with stock springs and no valve float whatsoever, they really gave a nice kick to this L-36 I would say a good 12-18whp ,with all the contraversy over HS RR I think there were only a few cases but if you buy used set with some mileage and no signs of wear you are relativly safe.Chico(pops)
