ok you can pick up a 00 z28 for around 13 then go buy a supercharger and you are 450hp for less than a 03 cobra. Also gotta look at how many parts there are for the engines the ls1 is very very plentiful the 4.6 a strict mustang 4.6 is only in a stang then you have dulled down versions in towncars and others. the 5.7 LS1 is in the camaro, corvette, gto, cts-v, firebird, and any others i missed. They are basically all the same engine minus say the intake and manifold so thats a big reason why the camaros and firebirds were 315hp compared to 350 hp for the vettes.

And you can go buy a '99-00 GT for around $8k, and put a Kenne Bell on it and supporting mods and still be cheaper than the Camaro while making more power.

Nothing against the Camaro and Firebird, I love them, but they're too expensive for what you get.

true but theres also a limit to the 4.6l before doing major mods. The ls1 can run stock trans and all that all the way up to 550 hp and not worry the engine is built solid. Ive heard storys with each engine more with fords only mainly the 98 engine and how crappy it was done. But eh there was a time i was checking out cobras but each look i was kicking myself in the ass just couldnt buy one but if i bought a mustang hav to be a svt cobra.

Thank you all guys, threre are always useful info here!!!

Well i haven't sold my GP, i agree with some of you that Mustang has a better looking style, but 305 HP's on camaros are really nice.
As Herc said i have to watch over the support for these cars, my last mechanic was a mechanic in chef for 20 years at a ford dealership, so he really knows about mustangs, he said it is a very reliable car, but on the other hand theres a nice f-body forum here in mexico with lots of support...

Those are my best options but there is one too that i think you don't have there, a Renault Clio Sport, it is a very small car with 175 HP's is a V8 eater, here in Mexico, and it is a 2 liter 4 cylinder. Is just that renault is known here to have very good cars but a little bit cheap on electronic sensors...i'll let you know what will be the next car!

Thanks again! cheers

Having a V6 Camaro is like having a SE/GT Grand Prix. Yeah, it's nice, but you know the car isn't living up to its potential.

As much as I'd like a blown V6, still nothing like a torque-loaded LS1.

There never was a "crappy year LS1 Camaro", IMO. The 98-02's are essentially the same with minor differences with the intake and cam specs. In any case, go with the LS1 Camaro, it's a much better car and also has the performance edge.

well each year differed with the ls1 technically the 98 ls1 camaros and firebirds had the most problems from what i read. I never had a problem with mine until i sold it cuz well i beat it up too much and i didnt want to fork out the cash to rebuild part of the engine new trans new tires and so on but the 98 the main prob was the oil pump or maybe it was the water pump. Id personally look for a 2002 ss just cuz when you do decide to get rid of it youll get your money back. the 2001 and 2002 had many changes you had a chance of getting an ls1 with the ls6 block since they were changing over to that platform engine for the z06 and such the intake manifold is of higher quality and those 2 years had the least so called problems with them. Fixed all the glitches before killing a breed kinda sad.
