Our plan was always to have 2, 2 years apart but with the little Princess being 8 now, the thought of having a second one has been slipping away.

The wife doesn't do pregnancies well. She's already begun the "nothing taste good" stage and she's been feeling sick for the past couple of days.

Although the end result will be completely wonderful for us, the next 9 months will be a roller coaster ride from hell.

That's confusing. So you are going to have a second now even though things "slipping away"? From the rest, I take it you are! Congrats! You can always take a roller coaster ride in the GTP! That'll help things out!

dude, welcome to the club! much luck to you and your wife. has your girl been noticing the change at all? The signs include either jumping on mommy's belly or snuggling with her belly more than usual. There are other signs, but I cant think of them right off.

The daughter has been saying she wants a brother/sister for awhile so she's thrilled about the whole thing.

What I meant about the "slipping away" comment is that for us our time to have a second child has been slipping away, she's 38 and I'm 41. We were already settling in with the thought of only having one child.
That's the one thing that's been weighing heavy on the wife for the past couple of days. Over the past couple of years she has been slowly mentally releasing the idea of having 2 kids, as I have also but I'm thrilled about her being pregnant again. She's taking more of the worried side.

It's looking like Feb will be the expected arrival date.

T-bat, She's already made me sell one car due to her being pregnant, my Prelude. She's not going to make me sell this one... and she knows it.
Also, it'll be paid off in Oct. She wouldn't let me sell it if I wanted to. She's looking forward to me dropping my car payment.

UM, mid year is the perfect time of year to have a child.
My daughter only has to wait 6 months between her birthday and Christmas.

my wife and daughter agree. My wife was born in Dec, and often shares her bday with xmas. My daughter was born in June, and seems to love being able to get presents pretty much throughout the year. Being born in Feb, I hafta pace myself through the year, or I would never get any presents, lol.

She's a girl!

A small part of me wanted a boy, but I wanted another girl because I really thought my daughter would enjoy a sister instead of a brother.
She went with us today when we found out. She got about as excited as you can imagine.

That is one way to guarantee a birth date and time. Are they gonna let you attend the surgery? Some hospitals allow the father to attend IF it's not an emergency cesarean.

Bit of a heads-up for ya: assuming the docs werent too clear on the procedure, they have to cut through the ab muscles to get to your daughter. Not very dangerous now that they have done the surgery for so long now, BUT your wife will be QUITE uncomfortable during the healing. Liek I said, the procedure shouldnt make ppl nervous at all.

My first daughter was a C-Section and I was right there with her. I couldn't see directly what was going on, but there was a wall that was covered with glass cabinets and I found out that I could see what was going on in the reflection of the glass doors. I was watching everything they were doing from the reflection until one of the nurses caught on to what I was doing because she came over and she knew exactly where to stand to block my view.

We're going to be at a different hospital than the first one, but I'm sure I'll be able to be in there with the wife on this one also.

both my kids were deliverd by c-section and I was allowed to sit in on the second...they had mirrors mounted over head so i could pretty much watch whatever I wanted to see...a little sqeamish at first but it was pretty fascinating after that...picking a time and date does make things simpler and spares the baby some birth trauma...but Josh slept for almost two whole days after he was delivered...congrats Bobby!

Unfortunately, the family name (which dates back to the 14th century) will end with me. This "Thibodaux" bloodline has always had boys in it to carry on the name. It will go on no longer.
The wife will be getting "fixed" while they're going to be in there, so no more kids for us.
