...I'd say! Officers checked the licence plates, and found toiletries and a toothbrush in the car. He probably used the engine coolant or the washer fluid to brush his teeth!

I've been told that technically, there is no legal limit to how long a test drive can last. So if you take a car on a "test drive" for a month, it's not technically theft. Dunno if it's true or not.

Seeing as he drove off leaving the attendant who was supposed to sit in with him during the 'test drive,' it really hadn't started.

Well, it also wasn't in this country, so the laws could be different.
But I know of one dealership that is near me that just gets a copy of your drivers license, and then hands you the keys.

I think Carmax gives you up to 5 days to bring it back after you purchase it, which sounds similar.
