How did the owner manage that? Someone with too much money and other nicer cars, that they neglected this one?

I'm pretty sure that same dealership had an auction for an ultra-low miles GNX not too long ago. I remember that clean shop with the Texas flag in the background...

you talkin about mine yeah I know it, dont see the humor. Im a poor white kid just tryin to get through his 3rd year of college with about 5 years left to go. Im just not into the trans ams and let alone hearing about them everyday from a moron who dont know the first thing about cars. He talks about how cool they are. that is until the headlights break on them the motors that is. then it cost what 150 bucks to fix them. They look like a sunfire or really gay saturn sc on crack or a fat one at that. not my cup of tea sorry for all the trans am lovers out there, the firebirds of the 80s are any better. They should have kept the GTO and junked the firebird/transam years ago.

hiding headlights are ricey?...dont like vettes and Trans Ams are gay...is there an alien abduction story to go along with this?

I seem to recall some 70s musclecars that had hiding headlights (the Charger for one)...even if you dont like a particular car is it necessary to rip on it? If you dont like what your "friend" says about T/As thats fine...nobody likes a bragging squirrel...but dont you think "ricey/blows/gay" is kinda harsh...if you dont think it is I dont see the humor either.
I never was a fan of the last gen GTO but I dont think I ever referred to it as a "fat Cavalier on crack"...especially since there are board members who actually bought one.
If a T/A aint you cup of tea fine, but a little respect doesnt cost a thing.

I love that trans am and who ever gets thats, its going to be worth some money since that was the last year for it and its a ws6. If I had the money I would get it in a heart beat plus the pop up headlights are a little gay I thought but I still love that car. Once you hit the throttle on that you wont even car about the headlights.(well this is my opinion anyway)

Thats odd. Flip up lights have been around much longer than the whole "rice" movement. Vettes, Ferraris, Lambos, Jags...they dont really strike me as being "rice"

granted, the 3rd/4th gen F-Bodies dont have the finished/refined look that the C6 has, but the rotating headlights are what turned me on to the 3rd gen in the first place.

And when the F-body can smoke the living life outta a W-Body stock, with a whole lot more available potential, it can look however it wants ta look. Including the Skyline, Supra, NSX, RSX, and Corolla Rally cars. Something about a 4 cylinder giving a BBC a good run for it's money is very respect-inspiring.

Also, allow me this parallel: Pink on a guy is generally regarded as, um, less than manly, right (notice I said GENERALLY)? Who in their right mind would walk up to a body builder/power lifter (aka human Muscle Car) and call him gay? Not I, that's for darn sure.

Moral of the story: not everyone shares or sympathizes with your opinions. Please dont project or speak in general absolutes.

Dude you need to understand what your talking about. This F-Body is the opposite of rice. It could smoke the HELL out of your car and it would sound much better doing so. The LS1 has a ton more potential as well, plus its RWD!!! Don't call any F-body rice ever again.

Edit: Richard makes a very good point as well.

you don't have to participate in every thread because you don't agree, or like whatever it's talking about.

there's a big difference between a flawless LS1 powered Trans Am with low miles and a riced out V6 firebird that your friend doesn't know sh-t about.

Yeah, it's a free country, but you don't have to rain on every parade, ya know? honestly when you call the Trans Am a fat Sunfire, I don't honestly know how to respond to that, but that is the most retarded thing I have ever heard. LMAO!!

That's pure sex right there

I like sunfires... What's wrong with sunfires?

Why is everybody ratting on the sunfires?

I'd LOVE to take a sunfire and drop a mod'd L36/L67 in it. Would take some work but it would be FAST!

And drummer, got any in black? wink

Sunfire's I must say are a chick's car.

Actually that Trans Am is one of my friends, and before you guys go judging saying, "oooh, look what mommy and daddy bought him", he actually worked and earned all the money for that car. He teaches guitar lessons for a music studio making like $22 an hour. This is his second T/A, the first one was a 99, had 120k on it and was black, then he sold that one and bought the red, it's an '02 with 85k on it. It's a really nice car and he's modded it too. Texas Speed MS3 cam, heads, longtubes, and more. I believe he ran an 11.6 with it (using drag radials)

So that is alot of the reason why I am so partial to Trans Ams, because I have first hand seen their full potential and seen how mean, yet still slick looking they can be.

(side note - 3000 posts!!! yeah baby, woooohoo!)

The guys isn't a TA fan so what. He stated he's an early 70s mopar guy.

I think everyone needs to cool down I've seen many members bash other makes and or models. We don't need a flame war. If it continues this thread will disapeer.

I'm not a fan of flip up headlights either. But I'm not going to condemn a make for one styling flaw I dont agree with. That's why I am a much bigger Camaro fan then a TA. Those little styling differences.

I've been drooling over the crate camaro that the guys on Muscle Car (Spike TV) are building. I actually had a dream last night that I was building one in my garage. cheers

I looked up the kit online. I figure the sheet metal will cost about $15k. Then you have the power plant, chassis, and everything else....

Not cheap by any means. But damn it would be sexy. I want to build one and drop an LS7 in it.

holy crap, man i want to do a 69 camaro or a 68 mustang, what i really want them to do is a '70 chevelle, that would be my cup of tea.

actually i really like T/A's a lot, but the one thing i dont like about them is the flip up headlights, i dont see how hard it would be to get some projectors or something that just fits in the hole

have you ever looked at the "hole" that is there. it would take a lot of work, the angle is so exteme (probably 160*) that you would have to work some magic.

I love the flip out headlights. An LS1 WS6 is going to be my next car

I like the Trans Am, but to be honest, the SPOILER I think is ugly...and kinda ricey...

But hey, when you've got a car that fast with that much potential, I could overlook something as simple as a spoiler. wink

and you opted out of the 20k quick ship? wow. What MOS again are you requesting, again?

The way I figure the retro-fit would be to TRY and use the C6/Z06 headlights and get someone real good with fiberglass. Or try and make a shelf yourself and put whatever projectors you want in there. Then making lenses wouldnt be that hard, I wouldnt think.

I've never heard of '20k quick ship'. Is that an army thing, or what? My "MOS" (called rating in the USN) will be either Electrician's Mate or Machinist Mate. Nuclear Power field. I go in as E-3 and after A school will be up to E-4 Petty Officer Third class

oh, yeah, sorry, by your use of Basic, I thought you were joining the Army. Yes, the quick ship bonus is an Army thing. The Army really is hurting that bad for numbers.

ALRIGHT, just got my C4 magazine in the mail the other day. To retrofit the newer style lights on the C6 into the C4, it is $1199.99 for the kit, and it doesn't look very good. I don't care for the new headlights now on vettes. DIY bolt-in installation.
