Dont you guys think that the G8 is the best car for the horsepower of 361 for the price of about $30000 i mean there is some fast domestic/ imports out there (mustangs, etc. and there is alot of cars in the 300 horsepower range) but im guessing the G8 is the fastest in that price range (to bad there is no coupe verson)

PS i heard that the mustangs are going to be a 4cyl with twin turbos to save on gas?

4 cyl twin turbo... im willing to bet its gonna be a single turbo

If you watch the commercials, they already say that it already is the fastest car under 30k.

Actually no they are working on a twin turbo for the the Mustang as well as other cars. The Lincoln MKS will be the first to have it. It was called TwinForce but I think they switched it to EcoBoost. I think it might be a 6 cyl. though, I do know that it's supposed to be able to keep up with V8's.

Its a six cyl. engine instead of a four banger, and they did renamed it ecoboost. Should be fun.

With a computer tweak and premium fuel, the G8 is right at 400HP. It makes 361 HP with 87 octane. Try and catch the Speed TV special on the G8. They drove the crap out of a couple at Willow Springs raceway. They also drove 50 Cent's red and black 500HP version.

IMO turbos are getting to be the way to go for fuel economy and power. Ceramic coating, CNC machining and synthetic fluids have brought them a long way. I am helping plan my buddies Hot Rod (39 Ford). We are hoping to put in a turbo 4.3L Chevy with Tremec 6 Speed. Goal is 30 mpg at 70 MPH and still have power to pass and have some fun.

G8 is Most HP for under 30k.

From what I've been reading it's giving the BMW 5 series a run for it's money in not only performance but quality as well. GM is heading in the right direction. They can't produce Malibus fast enough to meet demand (when was the last time that happened with your average midsize car?), the G8 giving some honest competition that can break the paradigm of US cars, the new Caddi CTS. Futures lookin bright.

x2

I've been trying to be supportive but every year I kept having to say "aw come on!!"

However, the Ford Fusion and Malibus are pretty good examples on head-nodding quality. The fusion's quality was contributed to more standardization and no wierd spin-offs. I like the malibu's design and they seemed to have kept things simple w/ quality.

In other words, someone there changed the prioritization. I prefer a nice interior than knowing they made a MAXX version of my car.

The 252 hp V6 has nice numbers but with 17 MPG...eh. Other cars fair only a tad better like the Nissan in terms of MPG and hp. Problem is it uses premium and it's torque end is higher.
