Who saw the movie?

I just rented it the other night and I was severely disappointed. Here's my review: It sucked. As a Johnny Cash fan, it let me down in every way. Basically, it was a movie about a pillhead who kept screwing up his chances at getting the blonde. There was a 3 second pan shot of Cash sitting in a jail cell. Not much there to indicate the influence it had on him as a songwriter/person. Nothing about his christianity which was a major part of his life.

What a hollywood piece garbage for a biography. As a movie it was good. I'm a huge Joaquin Phoenix fan. As a depiction of the man who should have been bigger than Elvis, it was a let down.

I agree too. My mom and dad really liked it too, as well as my grandparents, and they were all influenced more by that era than I ever was.

Plus, it's a biography. Life and truth isn't always a nice thing to watch. And, since it was his life, people can't catch every single moment of what made him himself. That's impossible; it wasn't their life.

I also enjoyed the movie as a fan of cinema but Bryant is right. There was such a bigger part to Johnny's life life. Don't get me wrong about what was portrayed in the film. I wanted to see more on screen.

Bryant's right, man. I thought it sucked too. I thought it was going to be somewhat like a white version or Ray, which was awesome BTW. But it was like it moved through his life too fast. I didn't really care about the music too much. I think they focused too much of the movie on that, and not Johnny's life and what he went through. Those are just my 2 cents.

I heard they toned down a lot of the drugs in Walk the Line.

Wouldn't surprise me. I rented Ray and the DVD had "bonus footage". Every bonus scene was Ray shooting up heroine. I mean EVERY scene.

They still could have put in in the DVD version. Jaime Foxx won best actor for Ray. I know Joaquin could have won that for Walk the Line. I still think they focused too much of the movie on the music.

I'd argue that it isn't a biography. It's a hollywood movie. When I think of Johnny Cash's life, I think of christianity and prison. Not to say that there weren't plenty of drugs and women.

Did any of you watch American Idol last night? When that guy sang "Walk the line". That was an awesome rendition. I liked it.

When I first heard he was doing it, I thought "this might be interesting". I was blown away. He may not be in a class by himself, but it doesn't take long to take roll.
