So a while back I was messing around with my stereo and fading it back and forth and noticed that my rear speakers suck for one, and my rear left totally doesnt work. I was wondering if anyone could give me a how-to on changing or even getting to those rear speakers. I tried coming from the bottom and dropping them out but then I noticed theres plastic covers there mad . Do you have to take off the whole rear deck or what? thanks

gimme a day (at the most) so I can find my Crutchfield Mastersheet, and I'll scan it in and post a pic of it for ya. it'll tell you all you need and all the steps.

It's really pretty easy, but I don't feel like typing forever

Rear speaker removal:
Remove the rear seat cushion.
Should be 2 bolts at the bottom of the seat, one on each side.
Remove the rear seat back.
Remove the 2 seat belt bolts to remove the seat back.
Remove the rear deck cover.
There should be a couple of bolts that were behind the seat back.
Viola!
Easy as 1-2-3!
crazy

For those 3 retaining clips that hold on that panel over the speakers, I found that the claw end of a regular hammer works well to get those out.

Speaking of... er... speakers, my rear ones have a problem of working at their discretion. Sometimes both of the rear work, sometimes they don't. I've also noticed that they seem to work more often in warm weather and always go in unison. I've heard the connectors can go bad on the speakers, but wouldn't that make them vary on when they worked and not go out together? Any idea on where to start looking for a solution to this?

KyleGT, do you happen to have a install sheet for the front ones too? I basically know how to do the front ones, but it'd be nice to have a sheet, in case I miss something....

Ooo, come to think of it, I would need that soon, too .. So do you have it? laugh

I have some Xplod speakers on the way, and I'd like to put them in myself if I can.

Yes, those are 6x9's in the back, there's also a pair of 4.5's back there too if you have the "premium sound package". At least I think they're 4.5's, correct me if I'm wrong.

Are the stock 6x9's extremely weak or what? My front speakers kick out a lot more bass and sound a lot better than my rears. Maybe mine are just *special* but they sure dont sound like a good 6x9 should. O well I think im gonna swap em with some xplod 6x9's anyway. Thanks for the info though

when you take out the "power options panel", the one with the window switches and whatnot, make sure to pry it from the bottom (end closest to you) rather than the top. If you pry it from the top you'll break a little plastic piece (which I did, and had to buy a new bezel from the stealership for $13)
