How hard was it to install? Did you have to interface to stock radio with a extra Fm modulator? How hard is it to dismantle the dash? Where is the best place to mount it?

I have an '03 GP

Thanks!

dash is easy to open up. I've been looking at the portable sat. radios that use an FM transmitter. plug and play, just have a few unsightly cords.

hey bobby, did you try to see if the roadie would fit down in that little cubby in front of the shifter? I've been thinking about putting one there but I dont know if it'll fit.

Which service is better? XM or Sirius?

I don't like it in the cubby. When I look at it I don't want to have to move my head. The way I have everything set I just have to move my eyes.

I have the exact same setup as Austin does. I love it! I tried the lighter holder/ change collector in front of the shifter but didnt like it. Im on my second year of XM and very rarely listen to the regular radio. Setup to all of an hour to route the wire and thats it.

If you've got the money, get an Alpine head unit - then you can control satellite radio and your ipod (as well as CD and regular radio) through one medium.

I've got the ipod in the glove compartment and the Sirius modulator under the seat.
Its amazing how clean the setup is, all the wires run in the background and you have control of everything from one head unit. People are always amazed when they get in my car.

i have the same setup as Drew521 except mine is panasonic, and i dont have xm radio yet... but thats soon to come... but its really nice because all you do is plug in your ipod and/or xm radio and control it using the cd deck...

My wife has a JVC with aux input jacks. I had the same unit, but sold it along with my Bazooka.

I bought a JVC KD-S33 about a week ago at Walmart for $120. Its buttons light up red and match the interior. Not only does it have two preamp outputs, it's ipod and satilite radio ready (Sirius or XM). So, when I get around to it, I'm getting an XM tuner and getting that all hooked up. Any head unit with similar 'satilite ready' claims, should accept a tuner and allow control from the head unit.

My sister had one of the old Delphi portable units in her Taurus a couple years ago. While I loved the XM radio, I find the portable units to be too gaudy for everyday car use (which would probably be the only place I'd use it).
