I'm doing genealogy work and I came across someone whose headstone reads:

Pvt 50 Base HQ & AB SQ AAF
WWII

From what I can tell, that means he was a Private at the Headquarters & Air Base of the Air Force. But does anyone know what "50 Base" is?

I did some research and I found some other bases, but nothing about 50 base. I would be much obliged if anyone could give me more info about which base he was stationed at.

sometimes they change their names to what now known as the base. i looked into it and i doubt what ifound is right but its called Schriever Air Force Base but its a space wing so in short terms its called the 50th space wing. ill look more into it

Yeah I doubt they had a space wing in World War II...thanks though.
