Uh, we're talking about street racing...

I wonder just how they "invited" to watch their car get scrapped.

I can see it now

"You're Invited! To watch your car get crushed like a soda can!"

With big swirly letters and glitter.

This police guy look smile after see this car crush. He sounds like have a great time. lol

I would like to see that owner watch their cars crushed. They are probably in jail and thinking thier car in police impound. After release bail... they ask dude, where is my car? Police says sorry your car was crushed at junk yard. He probably will be eek

You asked "deterent for what"

My response is, we're talking about street racing. What do you think it's a deterrent for? wink

I think moodman's point is most people don't have stolen parts, so its not an issue for them. So it's kinda like a deterrent for dirty thieves that like to speed as well. It's also kind of a shoddy way of just wiping your hands clean as well.

So you would reward some one who breaks the law? If the parts are untraceable it's pretty much useless in a legal capacity. Now if they could trace the part back to an owner and offer the parts back that would be different but I'd put money on it that 90% of those that would be traceable the original owners would be like "what do I need an old beat motor/transmission for?" I've done passed on and bought something else.
