never happened to me yet but it is really loud and the disc drive makes an awful noise at times and stops abruptly lol.

Is Microsoft still sending out replacement 360's for that issue even if your OOW?

Mine had the 3 rings, they kept it for a month when I had it replaced, then the refurb they sent me started scratching discs but they wouldn't fix it, then the HD died and they took another 6 weeks to replace it, then about a week after my year warranty expired the disc drive quit spinning and they said that it would cost over $100 for them to fix (even though a quarter of the time it was under warranty it was down for repairs). I'm never buying another game system from microsoft.

The failure rate of the Wii and PS3 are both about the same, in the low single digits. The 360's is significantly higher.

I have enough problems with Microsoft on my laptop, I don't need it with me console also. That's why I sent Sony. Everyone PS3 bashes, but it's a hell of a lot more reliable than the 360.

Only once, replaced within a week.

Had a 360 for almost 3 (? I think) years now. Mine broke because I played it so much and I had it sitting upright, which blocks one of the main ventilation ports. Had this one for almost two years, no problems.

Mathematically, failure rate is going to be higher on a product that has sold more units and has higher demand. Not to mention Microsoft publicly put themselves out there apologizing and offering restitution for the problems created. The media ate it up and created a beast, I see it worked well from all the 360 bashing I see.

Yeah I really would, Rick. It vents a hell of a lot easier when all the vent ports are free to circulate.

If you've got the room to spare, try to put it in a place that doesn't really have anything around it that could trap the hot air, especially behind it. I have mine sitting on a two stacks of empty CD cases.

This should also prevent it from forming the habit of scratching CDs. That seems to only happen to ones that are set up vertical.

This is a view of my predicament. I have precious little room on this entertainment center tower, and dare not put this stuff on the TV stand portion, else the kids be able to have easy access to this stuff. What are your recommendations?

Sell the 360, Xbox, and PS2 & get a PS3.

Or better yet, buy a Wii. *wink wink*

Workin on getting a Wii, and keeping all that I already paid off. PS3 might be next. Never know. I was talkin about ventilation for the 360, how best to arrange all the items I already have, and not concern myself with cable length.
