I know this might be more of a clubgp topic but I trust the knowledge of the people here more. The question at hand is what is the most probable outcome of a quarter mile race between a bone stock 2000 Grand Prix GT vs an Eclipse GS (95-99) with spray? The Eclipse has aftermarket chrome 17" wheels (wont really make a difference), some exhaust work, and nitrous (not sure what shot but with no prep work done, the most it could safely run would be a 55 shot, right?) I have been getting consistent good launches lately. I believe the eclipse is an auto but if it wasn't, even better (kid isn't too knowledgeable). The guy is just getting the kit put on today and the race is scheduled for Thursday. A wager might be placed. I have raced quite a few of slightly modded GS's had no problem with them, also took a "less then perfectly driven" gs-t before. Lemme know how you guys think this is gonna end.

How big of a shot? Unless it's a 100, you should be fine.

Yeah, I remember that. I'm just asking whats most probable. I'm sweating it a little bit considering there will be a bet.

I lost to a Turbo Eclipse, modified and running 18 psi by about 1 1/2 lengths, racing from a dig to about 95 mph, after my top end swap. So if you're just a GT, and it's not turbo'ed you're basically racing a Dodge Neon with NOS. I wouldn't sweat it if I were you.

The cameras that cops have in there cars are great for recording illegal street races.

FWIW......
Don't wager anything you can't afford to lose.
$h1t happens, and if you're not prepared to lose it can be bad news.
On that note, keep in mind that your opponent may be offering something they can't afford to lose. Pending on the person as to what you will have to deal with at the finish line if you win... Some people get hysterical over a few bucks, especially if they had to borrow it from thier friends.
Be careful out there.

Just find a secluded place to race that is outside of city limits. There's a great place that is about 5 miles from my house, and we're out there every weekend at least once, and it's perfect. We've never had the cops called on us, just because no one lives on the road.

Yeah, same here. Thats where were going to do it. Its a little rural street with NO night traffic. We have the quarter mile marked off and theres some parking space right at the finish line. Also, I just found out he will be running a 75 wet shot. If that is his first time using it the engine will probably hold up but if its not then the engine WILL go up in smoke. Even the guy who installed the kit said so.

How big is the street you will be racing on. With a GT by the end of the 1/4 you will be doing at least 85. And you are racing a guy who never used the nos in his car before. If I were you make sure its a big road. If his car goes boom and you have to turn to aviod hitting him becasue he started going crazy. A quick move witht he steering wheell at 85,as you know it will move rather quick. Good luck

Yea well Im hoping to be ahead of him from the start, low end is the sweet spot for these cars plus eclipse's low ends suck. Im just hoping he wont catch me by the end of it with the spray.

What a disappointment. The eclipse chickened out (people told me he might do that since hes done it before). He tried to talk himself up by saying he was gonna give me a chance and race after I got back from my trip  . Then he was tailing me like crazy as if he wanted to start something. He ran a stop sign trying to stay on my bumper only to find a cop at the intersection. Too bad really, I was looking forward to the race. Sorry to post a missrace, but it happens.

also if you tell a track offical about the bet they take the money and give it to the winner.

meh, things happen for a reason. im all for racing and whatnot, but leave racing for the track dude =\ street racing is never safe....u can never anticipate whats going to happen. two cars going down a rural street at 90+ and a deer? or any animal, or somethings goes wrong? its just not a very intelligent idea =\ sounds like ur eclipse buddy needs to stop watching FATF =X maybe he should get a real car with some american muscle what would of made the difference is what brand of rice he was running, find out, lemme know
