no, with doing that you run the risk of eating pits into the plastic
like stated before
go to auto parts store and buy dash paint or something or what color are you going to use, because ifyou use gloss colors on the top of the dash it will reflect light causing a higher chance of an accident

When I was like 12, my buddy and I painted a model airplane, plastic, that we built. We didn't like the color, so we thought lets use gasoline to take the paint off. We came back hours later and found a ball of plastic! LMAO

What kind of paint is on the dash now? Regular "bomb can" paint, paint specifically for plastic? What kind of prep went into the first paint job? Did you sand before painting? Sanding before painting will cause the paint to adhere. The only way to remove the paint at this point would be to sand it off. If you used a paint specifically for plastic, the paint bonds to the plastic so again removal can be done by sanding it off. If no prep was done before using non plastic paint, you may have a mess on your hands. Regular paint won't stick to an unsanded surface so more than likely if you try to remove it by sanding the paint will start flaking off and you'll never get the edges of the flaking sanded smooth.

i painted my fuse box cover red, then blue and now white, and all i did was sand a little bit going to blue to white, so i suppose enough coats should do the job, but then again it is your dash. and you will be looking at it if you screw up

yeah when i painted it the first time, they didnt sand it, at least i dont think so because it still has all of its texture and i krylon fusion after i wiped it down with degreaser. i jsut thought paint thiner woudl make it simpler because honestly thats a boat load of sanding along with other things im going to do

It's sooo out of place. Looks like other parts of the care need more care in there then the dash again! (knob, carpet, cleaning)
