yeah man...kept having probs with the Sebring stalling out on me...after several new parts and a trip to the stealership (and $300 poorer) I got miffed and traded it for a 2007 PT Cruiser convertible. I was shocked that he had no problem with me keeping my wheels but I wasnt going to complain. The PT has 17k on the clock and the remainder of factory warranty to 36k. I got the car for $14700 so I didnthink that was bad at all since its $2k under KBB.

I've already swapped to Syntec oil and added a K&N drop in filter while removing the silencers from the stock airbox. The car goes in the shop tomorrow for magnaflow crossflow muff and twin tailpipes. I plan to add a downpipe & hi-flow cat later to let the turbo breathe better.

I snapped a few pics in my fave photo spot.

Sorry about the sebring but I like the color. There is a guy in my area with the same color but a 4dr with the turbo and he has 20 inch black ten spoke wheels on his, looks real good.

How much hp does this pt have, I didn't know they had the turbo for the convertible.

right now its rated at 180...but that was on 87 fuel and before any mods. I've been reading and you can easily get way more out of it and actually help the gas mileage instead of hurting it (unless you drive with your hair on fire of course)...I can add exhaust and a stage 1 box from mopar performance and she jumps to 235hp. Bigger downpipe and hi-flow cat will get you another 5-10hp. You can really turn this car into an animal if you want. I like it cuz it reminds me of the old 32 ford hi-boy roadster...and its a lot more comfy than the Sebring as well.

My daughter said it was a cutesy girl car until I took her up the road for short ride...then it was "holy hell this thing is insane!"

my friend has a PT Cruiser Series 3 Dream Cruiser with the 2.4 Turbo. Hes got the Upgraded PCM, exhaust, and a bunch of other stuff(cant remember for the life of me). He took my friends stock GTP by 1 car length already and that was only with an Upgraded PCM! Now after he did exhaust and the rest of the stuff he took the GTP by about 1.5 car lengths! These cars have an amazing amount of potential!

I ain't got much for PT Cruisers. They're Neons with a different body and have just as many problems. At least yours has a different engine. Tail lights are also bad for condensation.

I don't know how much you're desiring a vert, but some of the best compact Chryslers are those made by Mitsu like mine. The 2-door Sebring and Stratus coupes (Sebring vert doesn't count). They're a whole different animal from the Chrysler products and you can use just about any Eclipse engine upgrades.

see here now...loser?...no need to be insulting. :p

I think this is a better car than the Sebring, for one the body structure is much better for a convertible and the turbo 2.4 is stout in comparison to the 2.7...plus I've seen clips of some of these cars going like mad at the dragstrip. I'm personally not headed in that direction.
Overall I've had very good luck with Chryslers...I only hope this one turns out to be half as good a car as my Intrepid was...whenthat car finally gives up the ghost I'm gonna give it a Viking funeral.

When I saw the inside of my cousins, that retarded shifter really stuck out!
Interior is blah. But I do like your color and wheels. Her yellow PT is just plain UGLY!
She had a solstice, then a new cute eclipse, that I liked, then she got this ugly PT, I was like are you insane!
She goes, well I get tired of driving the same car quickly.

The Turbo PT Cruisers have the Neon SRT-4 Engines in them. So pretty much any mod that you can do to an SRT-4 you can do to the Cruiser. I LIKEY!!!! laugh

There's a reason the SRT4 isn't an automatic.

Best of luck with the new ride, Tbat...looks good with the Sebring wheels. At least you didn't trade up for a powder blue Prius! I saw one the other day and couldn't stop laughing... laugh

i think that is that guys way of coming out of the closet. i believe that it is imperative that anyone that drives a powder blue prius hand over their man card.

edit: insert miata joke here

we don't need to make jokes about your Miata Corey, just seeing a man drive one is good enough for a laugh or two.

Congrats on the new ride Tbat, the novelty of getting something new is always nice. Though I was never really a fan of sebrings/concordes.

Tim, there is a HUGE power difference in automatic and manual 4 bangers.

my friend has the Dream Cruiser Series 3 and he could stay with a stock SRT-4. That was BEFORE he put mods on his car.

Actually all of the turbo engine hardware is the same...the only difference is the control box tuning. The High Output turbo in the GT cruiser is 220hp stock...with either 5spd manual or Autostick automatic (this requires premium fuel)...my Touring model is 180hp with either tranny. I can however add the Mopar performance stage 1 control box and immediately jump to 235-240hp as long as I run premium fuel (mine only calls for 87 but I wont put that crap in turbo engine)
I have also read that it is in your best interest and life of your auto trans that if you go too full throttle and boost while cruising in OD, pull the gear lever down to 3rd before stabbing the throttle. Selecting 3rd engages two clutch paks and unlocks the converter...if youare running the stage 1 box this is essential for tranny life.

On another note I had a Magnaflow crossflow muff added yesterday with twin outlet pipes. The sound is nice and deep with no ricey, fart can spit-n-sput...full throttle makes a nice angry growl and minimal drone at hi-way speed. Nice to get a good working system on the first try!
check out the pics...

Lemme guess, the mod bug infection is both chronic AND terminal, huh? Have the thing for a few days and it's ALREADY getting tweaked on.

Ya know, there is a very simple way to get your BOV to go "squish" on those mopar turbo engines, I dont know how to do it, but I watched it on DIY, it was on the show "Tricked Out", I'm sure you could find it somewhere on the web

blurring the plate is just a habit for posting pics online...I dont always remember to do it. The "SUN RNNR" plates were transfered from the Sebring...I'llbe getting a different set for this car.

As far as the "chick car" comment goes, I've heard that one already...then again I've seen plenty of old ladies driving GPs...especially the SE models. lol

I've had couple ask me if I raised the back of the car...the donut spare wont that heavy so I doubt its because of that...and it would be pretty sweet if the pipes came out where the reverse lights are...very 'Cuda like...but I dig the way it turned out.

and uhh palsut my friend...take drive down to London, Kentucky...when you can smoke the "Pink Panther" then you can call your SE a race car...until then its a pretty face with a nice dress on :p laugh

nuttin like a bunch of wiseazz cajone busters lol

actually from my youth I was always taken with John Milner's 32 duece from "American Graffiti"...then later it was ZZ Tops awesome "Eliminator" 33 Ford...especially the videos from "Gimme all your Lovin" and "Sharp Dressed Man" where the ZZ boys and the bad rod would magically appear and toss some young dude the keys. Not to mention all the cool rods that have been built by the master car builders during all these years.

The PT cruiser has long reminded me of these old hot rods but from the late 30s Chrysler has chosen the image of eagles or birds of prey as their mascot or logo, as evidenced by not only the Chrysler Building in NYC which is adorned with eagle heads and claws...but also the "wings" logo the Chrysler returned to several years ago.

So as an homage to Chryslers of years gone by and to the mythical image of the ZZ Top hot rod...I have dubbed the Cruiser "GhostHawk"
here is a graphic I did and a possible paint scheme...

ok here it goes, i like the idea tbat, the graphic looks sweet as heck, but so far you are planning on alot of money into this PT, because the way it looks in the photoshop your are painting from a bodyline up (hood- around ) allready if you are planning on doing that thats some $$ personaly i wouldnt do it, you could take that money and sink it into the gp, but yet its your car your money and hey if it makes you happy go for it, but thats just a amount of change i dont think i personaly could do to a pt.

Now if you brought the front down and followed the curve of the fender and maybe a small dip in the middle with a curve in the rear it would look better.

the PT is a tall vehicle and thats why I decided on the darker tu-tone because it visually lowers the look of the car and breaks up the big chunk of side body. I do know what you mean about the curved lines of the lower half and bulging fenders. I considered a stripe very similar in shape to this graphic...
PT stripe

However the more I played with this idea (wanting to place the hawk inside the stripe) the more busy and over done I think it began to look. I am considering checking with a guy that does pinstriping at the richmond rod & custom show each year to see if he could do the hawk graphic and leave out the black background which I think would be more subtle and "ghost-like"...I'll have to try another chop for effect but I love the tu-tone on the Mulholland Edition Prowler and several other 32s I've seen that stuck with the straight lines.
