Lou Dog was like the band's mascot. Brad found him chained up inside someone's closet as a puppy. Louie had been abused and Brad rescued him.

Brad totally loved his dog, and Louie was always on stage with the band. Brad has all sorts of "louie" or "lou dog" references in his music.

If I remember right, Lou Dog died about a year or so later... I think 1998 I belive?

I think Lou Dog died a few years later. I don't remember the exact date he died.

Brad died of a heroin overdose in San Fransisco after their show in Petaluma. I've been to his memorial in Long Beach. Just FYI it's just a memorial in the cemetery there. He was cremated and his family/friends scattered his ashes in the Pacific near one of his favorite surf spots.
