4T8 had a bad nightmare about the future...which probably wont be far from the truth...diesel/hybrid electric and hydrogen fuel cells are where the automakers are sinking their development money into...the days of the high performance gasoline engine are definitely numbered...granted I have seen some concept cars that are gasoline/hybrid, but that also shows how serious they are about this...makes me wonder what will happen to NASCAR...they already race a dinosaur of a car by tech standards...I wonder what they will race when there are no more V8 monsters produced....its hard to fathom someone looking at my car in the future and it seeming as ancient as a 55 chevy does today...I guess thats the way of things.

BP oil alone has over a billion tied up in fuel cell development, and they are getting a push from the government to move ahead to attempt to decrease our dependency on foreign oil...toyota already has functioning prototype operating in fleet testing overseas...while I think we are gonna see practically hybrid everything by the end of this decade...I also think we'll see widespread hydrogen pumps in our lifetime. enjoy the exhaust note while you can fellas, cuz the future is the whirring and whining of electric motors.

what he said...I look forward to the day I get to take my grand kids for a ride in my ancient, antique old gas car...gas may be $5 a gallon by then but the old guys at the car shows I see now can remember when they had their tri-power 389 Grand Prix convertible and hi-test was 30 cents a gallon. Its up to us to make those rolling museums for the future and teach the next generation what real cars used to sound like! (and why they were so much fun!)
