For those not following on FB. My family and I got all settled into our new house here in Fort Worth. Haven't had the DSL hooked up yet. Still working off the cell service the wife got for the month. Every thing went nice and smooth. One little hic-cup with the A/C at the house. It needed recharging. I knew it was going to be hot here but it's almost too hot to ride the scoot.

Started at the new office today. It's good to be back to work and have something to do again. Looks like I be back in the air again this week.

only major things left to do is get my boys registered for highschool and get my wife a job.

I know all about too hot to ride, especially with all the gear we have to wear on the base. Our base now asks for ID, DL and MSF card. I ride to work if temps are between 45-95 and dry. Glad to hear you made it. Did you move your self or GOV move? My last two moves went great, one bent toaster and one scratched drawer.

Contract move.

Can't you get passed the DL and MSF card if you get a base sticker?

Austin is at 52 days of 100*+ temps so far this year, and the A/C in my car went out last week.

See you next month!

1. The AF no longer issues base stickers.
2. Too many young guys/gals were buying bikes and saying they got a new windshield or accidentally scraped their sticker off their car in the winter, so they got a new sticker and put it on their bike. We had 2 crash & die in a year, both with stickers registered to their cars on their bikes. The Base then went to DL & MSF card check, which is BS. I've been riding longer than most cops checking my crap have been alive.
3. My mesh Joe Rocket Jacket makes a huge difference when it is that hot though.

Hey chevman, why couldn't they just get a sticker for their bikes instead of lying about it?

In order to get a base sticker for a motorcycle, you have to complete a Motorcycle Safety Foundation riding class. Sometimes these classes have a 2-4 month waiting list. Recently, most bases have gotten a Military rider certified to teach so base members don't have to wait more than 2 months.

I know the Marines have mandated that Sport Bike riders get a special class for them that is taught by the Marines.

They are really pushing for base riding "clubs" or organizations so the young and dumb riders can ride with us older guys who have a brain on our shoulders and show them the right way to ride as well as small safe tips we have learned over the years.

I picked up a Joe Rocket airborne jacket. So far I'm liking it. I used it on my ride to Bodega bay. Have to say that jacket does not keep you warm that's for sure.

That's a bummer about the stickers. Nothing like a couple of idiots to ruin it for everyone else. For my ID I use one of those ID holders that hang around your neck that folds in half. It's tied to the bars so I just flip it to the guard. You could use something like that. One side is your ID the other your MSF card...

We can't use a holder for our ID. They must physically touch it to ensure the ID is not counterfit. The nice thing is I know about 1/4 of the Gate Guards, so I pull up say hi and they let me thru.
