somebody snap me into reality... if I put a carbon fiber hood on my rx-7, would it be rice? I probably would not have those side vents.

I'm thinking about a custom one so that I can fit a full size I/C under the M90. (I'm swapping in a L67 and 5-speed for those who don't know)

No it wouldnt be rice because its weight reduction and acually functional, its not carbon fiber vinyl sticker lol, i say go for it.

Just because it's got carbon fiber doesn't make it a ricer, IMO.

If your worried about the look of it just get the CF painted over. I know quite a few people who have.

Yep not rice if real. Personally I'm not a fan of exposed CF on body panels. To me all that is is the owner saying look at me I have CF. I'd much rather see a CF panel with body color.

what year rx7 ? turbo/non?

I had an 88 rx7 gxl non turbo.

I really loved driving that thing. It felt really solid, and it was so air tight in the cabin that the windows would not fog up inside even if it was -30 outside.

Very fun to drive. It is not a 0-60 car. but they will do 140MPH stock. and handled nice too. Factory LSD. I threw 2 sand bags in the hatch area, and it would go through snow like it was 4x4.

the drawback? 2 seats. it became a real inconvenience back in the day when I actually had a lot of buddies to do things with. and it would not be the best choice now since I have a kid.

but I did like it!

I love the look of raw CF. Especially if it doesn't match the body.

I think cf hood only look good on black car only. If red, green, tan, silver, and more colors that don't match with cf color look ugly. That's my IMO.

It remind me like someone damage the hood. Then they got it nice hood from junk yard but color is not match. They can't afford paint then that's better than nothing. They have like black car with red hood. I have seen anywhere for fender, door, bumper and etc. stuffs that don't match color of this car on highway often.
