I like it. And that's the engine going in the Mustang, at some point. 2011, maybe.

Is it available in AWD? and if not if it's FWD it better have some serious MPG over the G8GT otherwise all that power will be for not. Those who want that power want to use it like it's meant to be used.

The more I look at the new Taurus the more I like it...especially that interior and many of the styling cues they lifted from the "Interceptor" concept car. I think the blue oval guys may have a winner there.

I like it so far, but shouldn't they being trying to make fuel efficient cars? Or maybe they got wind of a 2nd bailout...?

I'm sure Ford is only looking at the SHO as only being 10-15% of overall Taurus sales. Just as GM is with the Camaro SS and G8 GXP. Plus with them using a turbo six can be a boost (pun intended) but if it's FWD it better have some serious MPGs over the competition.

off topic a bit, but many of these companys that got bailed out are still doing business as usual, and I mean they still fly their company jets, give out big bonuses, and just throw the money away like it was earned.

Many people are outraged when that stuff happens. And I have seen people on news shows defending it, saying things like "do you expect them to drive their car across the country to get to a meeting, or do you think they should wait in line like everyone else?

UM YEA !! when times are tough for us, we are told we need to "make changes" in our lives to compensate, yet if they get bailed out, no changes are made?

I don't think it's "business as usual" anymore. Sure you here about the jet to go to washington and a purchase of a corporate jet that was ordered two years ago or employee getaways.

Fiscal responsibility? How bout the man handling the hammer taking a 30 minute flight in a 747? When more fuel efficient planes/modes of transport are readily available. What kind of example is that? I know he has to fly to places but the 757 the 89th operates is plenty capable for CONUS flights under two hours. Keep in mind when he flys not one 747 is flown but two of em.

Lead from the front!!!!!!!

What got my goat was how congress blasted the big three for flying to the meeting but not one word was said to the banks who went on like nothing was wrong.

you are right.

Just keep printing the money off like we have no debt.

I don't think we have even hit the "HARD" times yet. Wait until the job market has NOT improved, and on top of it fuel prices go back up (we know they will).

but now, more people are paying attention. I mean a year go if a bank ceo flew on jet from southern oregon to a city 60 miles away in north california, nobody would notice.

NOW people are saying WTF is going on? It just looks bad for these people to be flying for shorter trips, when they could drive, or possibly do a meeting using a web cam or something similar.

I had a 91 SHO 5 speed, it was fun. It had flowmasters on it when I bought it, it sounded nice, and it really sounded nice when the intake for high rpm opened up.

I sold it after reading how much maintenance they need to stay running in tip top condition. it was a comfortable car though.

From what I've read, it's available in FWD & AWD. God, I'm so sick of FWD. Why are 90% of cars on the market FWD?

What gets me is:

1. The sheer amount of money being thrown arund
2. Now foreign car companies are trying to get loans. This is just out of hand.

I think we should do it. how long does it really take to print out another 25 billion? I mean its just money. lol.

our own automakers should have been on a project like that years ago. Maybe we should push for a comeback of the ford tempo, but this time with a V8.

FWD car are more efficent in several different ways...generally lighter overall weight, less parasitic power loss in the driveline and they offer better packaging for more interior and cargo room. When the car makers go for mpg they go FWD.

I also owned a 91 SHO 5spd and it was a supernice car but I sold it for the same reason jaybur citied. I t seemed like it shared precious few parts with the standard Taurus and the parts were way pricey.

The new EcoBoost V6 is intended as a way to deliver more power AND improve fuel economy. How much or if they succeed in those depts will remain to be seen. With more modern 6spd auto trans I dont see why the Turbo V6 shouldnt best the mileage of the V8 sedans with cylinder deactivation.

The whole corporate jet thing doesnt really get under my skin that badly...mostly because I know people on other boards that actually have jobs in those depts. The people that maintain and fly the planes are working and have families too. Some of the planes are under lease and not fully owned by the companies in question. Its just like when the big wheels come to the plant I work at. They fly into Richmond and then come to the plant either by helicopter or limo service...all of whown are locally employed to provide those services. I really dont see their travel habits changing. BUT if theyre getting travel expenses then I see NO reason in the world that any one of them should be recieving ANY kind of bonus money. A bonus is supposed to be incentive based...required for success and improvement...it aint no gimme.

I think it also has something to do with habit, and lifestyle.

Imagine you drive your F350 V10 100 miles everyday for work. You do not NEED to use it, but you really like to drive it, and the fuel costs are not of your concern.

Now imagine your company takes a hit financially. you COULD save some money buy getting to work with a more fuel efficient method, but you don't WANT to, you are used to driving your truck ,and want to keep it that way!

unfortunately you need to let someone at the bottom of the barrel go, in order to maintain your lifestyle choice. But it won't directly affect you, so you have the person fired.

maybe its not exactly that easy, but maybe it is?

NOBODY wants to "downgrade" their lifestyle. sometimes you have no choice, but if you are faced with the "choice" would you give something up? Not too likely. but that is just how most people are, and its not likely to change.
