Apparently they're made by Michelin. They're supposedly in production now (probably very expensive) and are supposed to be produced for other various applications such as wheelchairs, construction equipment, and maybe even offroad vehicles. Here's a video I found of them. http://www.audivideos.com/Videos/Med...elin_Tweel.mov I think they're interesting, but frankly, I think they look REALLY goofy, and don't seem like they would do very good on really rough roads...I guess we'll see...Crazy stuff if you ask me...

Your links aren't working for me.
EDIT: ok I did a google search and those things look weird. There is a picture of an Audi A4 driving on them, and it looks like it's floating because you can see right through them.
There is a photo of a Cat bulldozer using one, so I guess they could make them in an "offroad" or "heavy duty" set. Seems kind of cool to me.

Those are insane! I never heard of that. Man, if they made those in big sizes like 18 and up everybody would get them. They're hot. I would get them.

I think they're ugly, and they don't seem like they could work as good as regular tire, but with all the technology, you never know....

We'll see them sooner rather than later. Who wants to bet the 'core' will be reusable and new tread installed? Who also wants to bet people will run them until they're beyond bald because they won't blow out? :p

If people can afford them, I know a lot of people that would buy them and run them bald as hell.

I mean, who would want to buy a brand new wheel every few years? Not me.

I found this quote in another article. It answers some more of our questions: In addition to eliminating pressure sensors, the Tweel requires no mounting and balancing. And because the inner wheel flexes over bumps and through turns, the Tweel could have cost-saving implications in suspension-system design.
Unlike conventional tires, Michelin says it can optimize Tweel's vertical and lateral stiffness independently, which could allow for better handling and more comfortable riding tires.
Also, when the tread is worn out, the Tweel can be refitted with new rubber, saving cost over the lifecycle of the vehicle.
Michelin has been testing Tweel in military applications and says the device demonstrates superior resistance to artillery and land mines.
