I thought so too. Originally the Z-28 was a five liter car so it could compete in trans-am racing. SS's had the big blocks and monster power.

I was miffed with GM from the start when they intro'd the new Camaro.

The first two should have been plain Camaro for the V-6 and Z-28 for the V-8. RS for the appearance package on either. Leaving the SS to be a monster.

But over the past few years GM has watered down the SS moniker.

Agreed. Look at all the models they have now with an SS version...I don't think many of them (if any) would really fit what the SS used to be.

Yeah you can basically get an SS in any Chevy model now..I'm just waiting to see a Aveo SS. Lol.

I guess it's a good idea cuz the SS tag fits better on the average cars better than a Z28 tag would I think.

It's just weird they switched it around in order of power.

i seen a kid with a 2000 Camaro V6 that had Z28 on the side of the car by the quarter panel, and SS on the door lol.

I'm going to see if I can get a pic of a camaro I saw in the parking lot at work the past couple days, if it's there again today. It epitomizes domestic rice. Biggest hood I've ever seen and 4 hood pins. Not a new one, 90s model.
