Haven't posted much on here lately because of school and everything but I just thought I'd post up and give you guys a little news. I've been searching for a truck for about 5 or 6 months now and I finally pulled the trigger today. I just recently expanded my lawn service business that I've run for about 9 years so I've desperately been in need of a truck to haul my equipment. I also needed something to tow my school's fishing club boats around so here she is...

It's a 2001 Ford F150 XLT SuperCab, fully loaded, 4x4, 5.4L V8 with 208k on the clock. Yeah I know, that's a lot of miles, but 196k of them were strictly highway and it's only been driven 12k in the past 5 years. I told myself that I would not buy a truck with more than 150k on it but I could not pass this one up just because of the miles. I am not exaggerating in any way when I say that it's flawless. There is not a scratch or dent of any kind of the body and it's not even beginning to show signs of rust which is absolutely unheard of for trucks up here.

Overall I'm thrilled with the truck and I haven't even brought it home yet. It's getting picked up on Monday and I'll be going back to school tomorrow so it will be two weeks before I can even drive it.

Still got the GP, my brother will be the one driving it mostly from now on but I'll take it whenever he doesn't need it just to save on gas. It's actually going to get more attention than the truck this summer; needs struts and tires before winter and it's starting to have some major rust issues so stay tuned on that.

Looks really nice. I've been debating on getting a winter beater truck or a bike for the summer.

I'm not a big truck guy, but it looks clean.

Is your rust around the rocker panels?

Thanks guys, this one picture doesn't do it justice, nor could any picture, it's just that clean.

The GP is having big rust issues in the rocker panels. It's to a point where pieces of rusted out metal will fall when I rinse the underside of the car during a wash. It has also been leaving rust stains on the driveway after sitting outside in the rain. I've tried to keep an eye on it but this past winter it appears to have taken a turn for the worst. I have a buddy that welds so when I get home we're gonna pull the panels off and see if we can maybe buy a few new panels and weld them in. Sounds easy but I know it's a lot of work to do something like that the right way, so we'll see.

Yeah I've got that thread bookmarked. He did a great job but I think he really understated how much work that all took even though his damage was pretty extensive. I'd like to think I'd be able to do that but we'll how bad the damage is when I take the rocker covers off. Keeping my fingers crossed, that's for sure.

hey Matt truck looks nice hope it works out for you, and hopefully your brother is taking decent car of the GP

I just got my rotors on a few weeks ago but I've been too busy with wedding crap to do a nice wash/wax and get some good spring pics, nothing else really planned this year, hoping for headers and pulley drop in 2011

My neighbor has a 2000 just like it. I drive it alot when we get his Gold Wing or motorhome in and out of storage. It is nice. The oil filter is a serious PITA to get to. He says it gets much worse mpg than his 95 Chevy that was totalled by a city truck, but he is a serious lead foot.

Thanks Mark, we should definitely meet up this summer once I've got the GP in a somewhat presentable condition again. Hope everything is well with the car, good luck with the wedding too.

I'm hoping to get around 17mpg if I can but I know this is a truck and I'm not expecting too much. I'll definitely be taking it easy on the pedal though, besides, I've got the GP if I want to go fast(er). I don't put too many miles on my cars but I'd like to see it through at least 250k, even though I know it has a lot more than that in it.

Didn't notice any problems with the suspension when I took it for a drive and the previous owner would have told me if there was but I will definitely be taking a closer look once I get home and get under the thing.

On a side note, we just decided on a name for her: Ginger. My buddy's truck is Big Red so that was taken, I kind of like Ginger anyways.

I know everyone here rags on Fords, but my dad has an 2000 F-150 with the V6 that has well over 300k on the clock and still going. It's just in the past few months started needing some work done. He maintained the thing religiously.
