That's too bad. It would make a very nice attraction for the city. I suppose there's no practical way to get that behemoth to Iowa. I bet they wouldn't mind.

I think we should shun CA and blast it off to the depths of the Pacific.

It's probably better off not being there. The SF hippies would probably be egging it and vandalizing it.

Hell, I'd love to have it in Boston. It would be cool to see and I think they look impressive.

I've been on the Missouri a couple of times. I have to say that's one impressive peice of steel. Next time I have time in the Norfolk area I plan on taking a tour of the Wisconsin.

Last night I finally got around to watching a show I taped last week, "The Boneyard... Where Big Things Go to Die".
The first part was about all these decomissioned ships huddled all together out in a body of water, just sitting there. Some are used for spare parts, like a junk yard. Some are just being stored until future use, and some are being held until they can be scrapped, and some are being held until they can be moved to a permanent home and be made into museum's, like the USS Intreped in NYC and the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi. They showed a map of where this Boneyard was, and it looked like it was somewhere around the upper part of the SF bay area. One of the ships in this boneyard is the USS Iowa. I thought that to be kind of strange that the very place the USS Iowa is, the people there don't want to display it.

Herc,
Do you know where the "Airplane Boneyard" is, near Phoenix? I'm trying to find it, but don't exactly know where it is.

Edit: Found it, SE of Tucson.

I've checked that area out a few times. It's amazing how many planes are out there.

I've seen that place in person many times, having spent 18 years in/around Tucson. We also used to visit Davis Mothans (sp?) AF Base for various shows and exhibits
