So I was in NH with my father's Tahoe to help move my G/F out of school cause she is finally graduating. We are driving through a parking lot when all of a sudden, I lose the steering. I can't turn the wheel for all my might, like it locked up when the car turns off. I turn the car off and then back on and it still doesn't work, but I was able to drive straight ahead to a curb where I wouldn't be in anyone's way. I pop the hood and the acc. belt is completely off. I look at the idler pulley and it's hanging down. So I ratchet it back on and get the belt back in place. I have my g/f start the car and I watch as the idler pulley turns, it's backing the bolt out and eventually snaps the belt off because it becomes to loose.

This was Saturday. The Tahoe is still in the parking lot of Barnes and Nobles in Manchester, NH. I'm driving my dad up tomorrow to put on a new pulley and drive it home. What a stupid little thing that could ruin a whole weekend of moving.

It's a 96. 130k miles. My dad is waiting for it to die. I just don't want it to happen when I borrow it.

My 98 Silverado has 92k something else I'll need to keep my eye on.

The new pulley was $22. It's worth it to keep a spare on you. It was such a crappy reason for a breakdown that rendered the car useless.
