ok here is another update for you guys:

All night he has been getting better and better! Throughout the night the nurses were weening him off of some more blood pressure medicine and have no completely taken him off of 2 blood pressure medicines. He is starting to breathe almost completely on his own and has been pumping blood on his own. So they turned the Heart Pump machine down to a 1:2 ratio(meaning it is mainly for back-up right now). His body temp was at 101.5 last night and he has brought his body temp down to 99.5. They are weening him off of another heart medicine as we speak but that will not be completely gone for a little bit. Tomorrow they are planning on removing the heart pump from his groin and MAYBE the ventilizer!!!

So with that said they will be able to start turning down the Sedation Medicine which will then allow for him to sit up and start talking to us. The nurses did turn down the sedative this morning but he was too awake and he started getting very anxious and moving all around(he has a VERY bad back and he was in a lot of pain from laying on his back) so they turn up the sedative to help calm him down again.

So as of right now he is on pace to return home just before Christmas.(everyday spent in ICU is 3-4 days in rehab/recovery) The nurse that is taking care of him right now was one of the nurses that was in the O.R. with him and she said "I was very shocked to come in this morning and find out that he is still alive, i honestly did not think that he would make it, with the way the surgeon was talking about his condition.)

The prayers are working people!!! Keep them coming! This is one soldier that will NEVER go down WITHOUT a fight!!!!! I LOVE YOU GRANDPA!

Thanks everyone for all the prayers and thoughts! He opened his eyes this morning and actually saw me standing there. I said "Grandpa its me, Tim. Im here on your left side." Once he heard that he looked over at me and squinted his eyes to say "Thank you"

but thats what familys do though Steve. They constantly argue because we are a bunch of car guys and we think the same way and we are constantly butting heads.

yeah lol

well there is a minor setback. his heart is now in an artrial fib state. The nurse said that this is common for heart surgerys but for his case it is somewhat critical because of the condition of his heart. So they are saying that he will snap out of it, but when, nobody knows. So until he comes out of it we can not pull out the balloon pump OR the ventalator.

Earlier this evening he came out of his irregular heart beat and went back to his normal beat. They have completely weened him off of 3 heart medicines and he is doing well. So everything is back on track to remove the balloon pump tomorrow and maybe the breathing tube. The Surgeon refuses to move quickly because my Grandpa is already proving to be a miracle. We are MORE THAN FINE with the surgeon taking forever, as long as my Grandpa comes home alive.

Once again i can not thank everyone enough for all the thoughts and prayers you have given us! It is truly helpful and nice to know i have all of your support!!

I haven't read this, but I sent good vibes, prayers or whatever it name is to all your family specially your Grandfather, hope he will be at 100% soon!!

sorry im so late on giving prayers but i will still send some up for you, I guess its just my own feeling cause my mother is battling pancreatic cancer, so its hard for me to look at posts like this, but i will still pray for him.
