Now, I know everyone out there has to deal with the Grand MA mistaken identity and beat to pulp whoever said their car was one.

However, what about pronunciation of Grand Prix? How many times have you run across someone owning a Grand Pricks?

Just a curious, rambling post.

I've had both once, from the same person.

My ex's father. He's a jerkwad though. He seriously thought my old GPGT was a GA. Then when he got told otherwise, he asked if the 'Prix' was pronounced pricks.

Joke's on him, he's the prick. Major ego problems. 40-something playing Halo on XBL and picking fights with preteens. Thought his 96 V6 Camaro could beat my new GTP just because the Maro was a stickshift. Nevermind the fact that it had valvetick and he was on his third engine. *eye roll*

Oh, and the purple tint! OH THE TINT.

I just heard someone somewhere the other day say "Ah... the old Grand Pricks.", talking about the Grand Prix's.
I can't remember where I heard it or who said it. I want to say it was on the radio, or TV.

I think I say it like that in my head and don't even realize it, now that you mention it. I think I've heard somebody pronounce it like that maybe once ever, though.

I've said Grand Pricks when there is someone driving like a prick.... and I want them to get the ... out of the way. Other than that, never really heard anyone say it Grand Pricks, and be serious about it.

I've only heard the Grand Pricks one so far, mainly from my cruise night buddies as a good natured jab, as in "Wha'cha drivin' tonight? Your Grand Pricks?" My reply of "It's better to be Grand than Little.." usually shuts them up.. wink

As for the mistaken identity thing, I'd imagine wearing one of these would help clear things up...

Must be fast

got grand prix?

I hear it from time to time at work, always from some really old guys... and they're serious. I just shake my head an go on.

The Grand AM thing, I think it just can't be escaped. Even a shirt wouldn't help most people. :p

I like that one as well; the second one would look better with a pic of your car under the text. wink

Hi,

Here in Mexico everybody says "Grand Pricks" even me, I know in Prix the "x" do not sounds, but if i say it like that i would pass as an idiot, yo know what i mean??

Well, for the Grand Am, every time i let the car in a valet parking they say EVERYTIME, with the ticket in the hand and writing the numbers of the plate..."it is a grand am right?" .
As i've said here in Mexico there are just a few GP's and grand ams are everywhere.

regards

Funny thing: I was given a ticket JUST before leaving Savannah, GA for New Mexico. I wrote a letter to the judge, and one of the reasons I justified that the ticket should be thrown out was that the officer had my insurance and registration in her hand, and my trunk lid wasn't debadged. There were no less than 3 other reasons to have the ticket thrown out, but I couldnt abide being called a GA, ya know?

There have a few people that have confused the GP and called her a Grand Am. Of course, I give them a dirty look and correct them right away. devilgrin
